Wow. First things first: this trifecta of Daytona, Bronson and 6th Sense is so necessary. 6th's got that funky, jazzy vibe going on, and Daytona and Bronson dip into that throwback flow, referencing everything from WWF to Saved By The Bell. Some cool shit to fall back and dumb out to. Or really try to contemplate early on in the party scene. Damn I'm loving this shit. Black EL ft. El Prez & 6th Sense "Sunday Drive (Remix)" (prod. by Durkin): Firstly, someone better tell Prez that it's just Black EL, not Black Element. If I had a whip, and wanted to make a CD, I'd start the mix with this and end it with that Kidz In The Hall track. Just some shit to mob aorund town to. The original "Sunday Drive" was released on Color Commentary, which if you slept on, you should either throw yourself off a moving train into the ocean or get caught up. The Kid Daytona has always intrigued me. I remember the first time I heard anything about him was on a classic episode of Juan Epstein - learned a lot about him, most of it wasn't about his rapping, but over the years, I've always respected his use of theme in his projects. Especially since these shits are free. I mean damn, it's like he had some of the finest producers out there (6th Sense, Cook Classics, 9th Wonder, Ted Smooth and others) take some of the illest musical loops and moments from Hip-Hop and craft fly beats from them. That's what he did? Then he got MCs like Styles P, N.O.R.E., Freddie Gibbs and others to collab with? Jesus Christ, why did I ever sleep on this? Kind of mad I hadn't peeped this when it initially dropped. Definitely something for you to rock to over this holiday weekend. Or on the train. Or while you're at work. Or in the cipher. MLT "Testament": So the homey MustListenTo picked up some of those fresh 6th Sense instrumentals, and concocted this quick shot as a lil’ preview of what you can hear from his forthcoming mixtape. He’s not looking for fans – he’s looking for believers. I imagine a lot of cats are on that, but just don’t know it yet. Has that post-Halloween leftover candy vibe to it. John Public "Jack & Ginger Ale" (prod. by 6th Sense): I’ve actually never had Jack with Ginger Ale – it’s either straight or with some Coke (no Bobby Brown). I’m not up on John Public, but he reps Jersey City and linked up with the homey 6th Sense; their collab on this one is a perfect mix. I’d actually love to be at a happy hour with a band playing this track, but I digress. One thing I do when I drink is reminisce, which fits perfectly with Public’s backwards journey he takes in this cut. This is taken from Re-Gifted: Thrift Shop Experience, which is due out on December 7th via DJ Booth (and on iTunes early 2011), and features beats from 6th, M-Phazes, Oddisee, DJay Cas and more.
