I guess you can say that the RTD blast of this EP back on 11/11/11 was a preview. Or that the artwork here is now cleaner and more devoid of RTD affiliation (EDIT I did see that @DanielJoseph tweeted that this is the "real version", so there you go). You guys might remember Madicinal Libationz, the Cy Yung & Dub MD project that found Cyrano going in over a number of Madlib instrumentals. The powers-that-be shut that one down, so Cy and Dub decided to reimagine this one; I'll let them tell it...Cyrano Sinatra (f.k.a. Cyrano aka Cy Yung) has reconnected with Dub MD to help remove a blemish from their immaculate first collaboration, 2009's 'Madicinal Libationz'. After assembling one of the most diverse casts of Hip-Hop underground at the time, 'Madicinal Libationz' was received with praise but ran into roadblocks to reaching as many as it could have, but this 'Bitchless Brew' will not have that problem.
The 'B*tchless Brew' features production from one of the UK's best kept secrets, Magic-Boy, Cyrano's familia, Centric, J. Slikk, Cynergy Soundz and Sharpcuts and extended fam from NC Hip-Hop's stash of heatrock-makers, this is what should have been! Brought to you by Kevin Nottingham and RockTheDub. The project is minus a few choice cuts that will make their remix appearance for the forthcoming Anniversary edition.
No better way for Dub MD to say farewell to his freely-given, classic co-sign mixtape series than with this re-invention project, a return to the buffet of lyrical wordplay Cy dropped in April of 2009. And this is only the beginning, Cyrano and Dub MD will continue to keep the flame of Underground Hip-Hop lit. Sinatra's 2012 will feature more from his 2-man group Steadyflow (with Sharp), as well as complete projects produced by Centric, J. Slikk, DJ Husky, DJ J-Rell and Doc Verbz.
This will be also be Dub MD's final "FREE" artist project, stay tuned over the next couple of months his official debut EP entitled "The Requiem" which features the best sub-surface hip-hop has to offer including Vandalyzm, Substantial, Sha Stimuli, Braille, Kam Moye, Spec Boogie, Kel Spencer, 8thW1, Genesis Elijah + more. FINALLY! DJ Booth and Dub MD present Dominique Larue's Sam Jackson project, on the day that Michael Jackson was born. I imagine that's not deliberate, but an ode to another iconic Jackson out there? So dope. Original beats from the likes of King Mickey, Onederkid, D-Que Beats, Severe and more, with the homies M-Dot, Revalation and Add-2 being featured. I personally love utilizing movie samples in my own podcasts/mixes, so to hear Larue flip those throughout her EP? So perfect. DJ Bern on the cuts as well. Enjoy that.

On the 29th of August, Dub MD and Dominique Larue will be releasing Sam Jackson, a project that's inspired by (and feels like a dedication to) Samuel L. Jackson's movies, featuring a number of his most infamous/classic quotes (with cuts by DJ Bern). On this one, watch how quickly Dom can fly into that double time flow - almost like how Sam Jack goes into that elevated, authorative voice. Add-2 brings the fly shit as well, and I love the beat from Swedish producer Severe. Some big body shit to wake up to, chief.

Had no idea the homey Dub MD was linking up with one of my favorite MCs, but I smiled when the first free project from C-Rayz Walz touched my inbox today (pause?). Word is All Blvck Everything (The Prequel) is not only the taster, if you will, to his All Blvck Everything: The Album, is not only a death march for his old ways, but also the death march for all competition. Walz doesn’t disappoint here – alone and on the collabo tip (with the likes of M1, iCON The Mic King, Mike Eagle, NoCanDo and more), with beats from 9th Wonder, Marley Marl, Bronze Nazareth and plenty more, he goes in with the twisted wordplay. I was always intrigued by his dominance over beats, and stayed for the intellect, and I’m glad I’ve got a grip of new jawns from him. Also kind of intrigued with what he has down the pipeline – where the fuck is C-Rayz going!?
!llmind is the epitome of #winning. Dude's working with a shedload of MCs, as well as hooking up the Smokey Robotic conglomerate, getting plugged on TMZ and shit. I mean, really, when you live inside the truth like I do, you recognize #winning. Duh. Here's part 5 in homey's Blacks, Rhymes & Life serious, featuring the usual dope rhymes and ill beats - two discs full. You already know what the fuck is poppin', grab the shit.
Smokey Robotic "Voices" (prod. by !llmind & Dr. Know Jr.): !llmind is a fucking shapeshifter. He’s one of the only cats who can believably make a proper banger of an album with Skyzoo, pure Hip-Hop shit, but then still dip into this Smokey Robotic collective and truly let their freak flag fly. Makes him the kind of producer who might be on the berth of mainstream appeal, you smell me? Nah, of course not. This cut is taken from Blaps, Rhymes & Life Vol. 5, which is due out Monday, February 28th, and will feature cats like Crooked I, Masta Ace, Ed O.G, Lloyd Banks, Maino and plenty more. Genius. Big up Dub MD.
I know the homey Praverb was on the low, not picking up a pad or a pen to commit life to the page, but he had resurfaced with some ish on deck. Had no idea that this would turn into The Brainstormers, aka his collective alongside Cayoz, A.L. Laureate, DJ Grazzhoppa and O*Zee. This EP finds these cats really moving towards a similar goal, becoming a proper “group” as opposed to a bunch of niggas rapping together. Also had no idea they roped in heavy hitters like Crooked I, Skyzoo and Hell Razah to contribute, as well as beats from talented cats like Teddy Roxpin. Just a great introduction to a piece of the game that’s needed: unity. If you aren’t feeling the intro, “By All Means”, I don’t know what you’re about. Shouts to Dub MD for the heads up on this – saw a few alternate covers with Kevin Nottingham on them, but I’m not sure how they are affiliated. No bother, shit’s dope on it’s own!
Being the nerd that I am, I fucks with Hip-Hop and the sounds that influence the genre. 2 Hungry Bros., a pair of producers who dig in crates and use their finds to educate and create some fucking dope music. Dub MD recognized that, and has been working with them on the very project you see here. Just in time for Thanksgiving, 2HB got some delicious treats for your fatboy Hip-Hop hunger pangs, with MCs like 8th W1, P.SO, Fresh Daily, YC The Cynic, Homeboy Sandman, and plenty of chefs for this dinner. Senor Kaos "The Download Song" (prod. by 2 Hungry Bros): Dub MD told me about a possible 2 Hungry Bros. project a while back, and now Open Buffet is on the way just in time for Thanksgiving (aka November 23rd); Kaos spends most of the track breaking down the art of illegally downloading music. I’m not mad at cats being upset for shops like Fat Beats closing, but that’s why I cop what I fuck with. It’s not my fault that the majority of the albums for sale aren’t worth it. If everything sounded like Von Pea’s Pea’s Gotta Have It, I’d buy everything. They don’t, though, so I buy what’s worth it. Anyways, 2HB’s Open Buffet also features cats like Fresh Daily, 8thW1 and more. Hopefully Kaos won’t get mad when I download that project.
Hood Apostle aka Mr. Got Lyrics, is a rising star on the music scene. The 23 year old MC has been honing his craft since the age of 16. His homemade "Back To The Lab" mixtapes garnered him much respect on the streets and rap ciphers across the globe. Hood cites his musical influences to be Eminem, DMX, Nas, Big L, Jadakiss, Royce Da 5'9" and 50 Cent to name a few.
Hood Apostle "Hood Bars": Dub MD sent this one over, taken from Hood Apostle’s hood mixtape, Got Lyrics?, which drops tomorrow, hood Tuesday. He definitely keeps it hood, dropping hood bars at whomever pisses him off, including SODMG. That’s kind of hood, but that’s what hood niggas (and apostles) do. This shit is long, too, so you might want to roll a dutch, light it and let it soak in for 7 minutes while Apostle batters a number of hood beats.
Nametag ft. Quest M.C.O.D.Y & Buff1 "S.I.N" (prod. by Black Milk): Damn. This is a lethal combination of ill spitters right here. Quest is one of the nicest who is also one of the most slept on, and Name & Buff1 truly make this one strong, numerically, over this fresh Black Milk track. This is taken from Nametag's album, The Name Is Tag, which you can cop via his website. It's his first official after dropping a grip of freebies, so support the man! Shouts to Dub MD!
I hipped you guys to this project last week, and now this new opus from Illmind is available. Here's some info on the project, ala Dub MD: "Almost 40 years ago, in a no name bar somewhere in Mississippi where two roads meet, with a storm blowing in from the Gulf, something happened. The story goes that a woman walked in who was so shockingly beautiful, and somehow dangerous, that the bartender stuttered when he poured her a shot. The rednecks parted in silence as she made her way to the old Wurlitzer jukebox that had been dark and silent for years. She put in a coin, they say, and at the same moment there was a flash of lightning that seemed to come through the door.
