Save The Old Barracks!

Damn; my wife told me last night that the Old Barracks, a state and national landmark, will be closed on June 30th, 2010, due to our glorious Gov. Christie's plan to cut overall spending. Now, I'm all for eliminating waste - but let's go to where the money is being wasted most. How much is Christie doling out for those skyboxes he made sure he kept? Surely those aren't as important as one of the remaining Barracks in the country!

The city of Trenton is rich in history - battles have been fought here, people have been taught here, and it's still a vibrant city (just come down for Trenton 2Nite tonight and see); why we would purposefully eliminate something that's good for the city baffles me. It's really disappointing that we'd openly screw with History, when the emphasis on kid's acting stupid is always thrown about. When its crime, we're willing to stick to our guns - why not do the same for my city's landmarks - hell, our COUNTRY's landmarks and history!

If you want to help out the Old Barracks, you can do a number of things: donate via PayPal, hit up the Art Show on June 13th, 2010 at the Grounds For Sculpture; sign this petition and let your voice be heard, join the Facebook group or any number of other options detailed via the Barracks' official site.
