Why yes, it's definitely been five years since I first started rockthedub (back when I still had a "blogspot.com" attached). It's been a wild journey - I went from needing a spot to let some of my unpublished interviews and reviews breathe, and turned into a destination for heads who want a different take on the normal shit you find on music blogs. As we always do around this time, I felt like I needed to drop a special compilation, and tried to assemble a load of previously -unreleased/exclusive material, so on this project you'll find new shit from Brown Bag AllStars, Zilla Rocca, Curly Castro, Elucid, Scripts N Screwz, Pugs Atomz & DJ Vadim, The Two. Scripts 'N Screwz The Hangover EP
The niggas known as Scripts N Screwz have been doing the damn thing all year - for longer than that, really, but you should've been charting their projects via RTD, as I've presented Loose Screwz' Satellites mixtape, as well as Script's Director's Cut project. As a lil' post-Christmas treat, they've sorted out a five-track EP, which includes their banger "On 10". Today, Scripts n Screwz releases their new visual experimentation, ON 10, to the public. The video consists of 2 main scenes. First scene features a traditional graffiti wall that represents SNS' love for Hip Hop in its rawest form and the second scene introduces the “Outer Limits” hall which includes stock motion, a never ending pathway and a host of interesting camera tricks!
The video's director, Cody Stokes, approached the duo with an idea that soon after became a reality. Stokes is a brilliant film maker from St. Louis, MO., whose accomplishments include a mantle top full of plaques but most notable, the very prestige Princess Grace Film award. SNS and Cody Stokes have already planned on working on more videos in the near future.
“ON 10” is the lead single for SNS' upcoming sophomore album, The HangOver. The song basically represents the old saying, to the MAX. “When you think of volume, you have 0, 5 and then you have 10”, says Scripts of SNS. The song has been gaining plenty of momentum throughout the St Louis Metro-East area but Scripts n Screwz feel as if the best has yet to come.

Shunda K "Here I Am To Save The World (Scripts & Screwz Remix)"
Shunda K "Here I Am To Save The World (Scripts & Screwz Remix)": I fucked with Yo! Majesty. They got a good amount of press for being no-nonsense chicks who liked to fuck with all kinds of freaked-out beats. From what I've heard, Shunda K left b/c her tolerance for nonsense was so low, she left the crew over monetary issues. Whatever the case may be, she's promoting her The Most Wanted album, and the first maxi-single is for her "Here I Am To Save The World", which has her donning her cape and flying over a bevy of bombastic beats. When I got the disc in the mail, I was ecstatic b/c the SNS cats had contributed a remix that's funkier and zanier than the original! They let the kicks play the background and really push that thumping bass to the front, allowing Shunda's rapid-fire lyrics to be matched up with some Acid-lovin' synths and bleeps. Amazing. NME picked this track as one of the "10 Tracks You Need To Hear This Week", placing it at #2... only being beat out by Kanye West.The Here I Am Maxi-single is out on July 27th.

Scripts Director's Cut
After much anticipation, Scripts plays yang to Loose Screwz' yin with Director's Cut, another trip into the psychedelic side of STL Hip-Hop. Scripts touches a number of sounds, to pure buddha-blessed boom bap to synth-infused future funk, and all points in between. He beasts Wale's "Girls", but also provides some sounds you've probably never experienced. I wouldn't present it if I didn't funk with it, and this is one to grow on.DOWNLOAD Scripts Director's Cut
