Daddy's Money "Since Gold Dust Been Gone"

Daddy's Money "Since Gold Dust Been Gone": DM hit me with this one like "I know it's not the usual THUGSTEP", but what he didn't realize is that I'm a sucker for Pop music refixes. I like people stripping down the cheeseball Pop instrumentals and really dragging that shit into another zone. The Flux Pavillion remix of Fresh's "Gold Dust", from the intro to the placement of the sampled vocals? It's a perfect match. I'd call it Pugstep, but I don't want to be mean to Kelly.

Curly Castro & Zilla Rocca's Str8 Westcoastin' Mix

Curly's "West Indian Rum" dropped the other day, and I mentioned he'd be performing this in Phoenix - I had no idea he and Zilla were going to be hitting a whole West Coast tour! This podcast is something of a gem on what might be one of the last Summer days of 2010, full of tracks from Snoop and Rass Kass, Eazy E, Planet Asia and more, including two bonus jawns: "West Indian Rum" (for you sleepers) and "It's 5'OClock Somewhere" from the Broken Clocks EP.

[video] Meyhem Lauren "Ray Lewis"

Meyhem Lauren passed me a disk of his latest work. The 'Clarified Butters' mixtape is gonna rock some skullcaps this winter. The opening track is called 'Ray Lewis' and that shit hits as hard as the man its named after.

True story is that I was listening to the song watching the Ravens play the Jets when Ray Lewis cleaned the clock of the Jets tight end [ll] Dustin Keller. You can call it fortuitous serendipity if you want. I call Meyhem Lauren the future of rap music. - Dallas Penn:

Wildabeast Beastroc

Interesting project here - 7 tracks completed in like 8 hours? All Blackroc instrumentals, with Wildabeast going ham on them. Simple and plain, and one of the great things about your Interents. Notherground!

Von Pea "Thanks For Your Children"

Von Pea ft. Che Grand & Elucid "Thanks For Your Children": I won't say that I've heard Pea's Gotta Have It, but I do know that in the grand scheme of the picture that Von painted, this track smacks you in the face like a buck fifty. Che Grizzly and Gutta come fresh off of The Fixtape 2 and the "Pandemonium" single, respectively, to add a splash of p-noid funk to the mix. This might be one of the albums of the year. Or maybe I'm just bugging. Trust, though, this track is constructed like the golden age of Hip-Hop - in your face, creative and real.

Pea's Gotta Have It
drops on October 12th.
