Lyle Horowitz - Redamancy

While I wait for a grip of tracks that Lyle Horowitz keeps BBMing me about, he drops this nine-track LP, featuring his Woodside Boy-bredren PreZZure, Rapper Big Pooh, Deniro Farrar, Loud Pack Lucy and Lewis. In his words: I started Redamancy on Valentine's Day 2011 during a bus ride back to New York from North Hampton, Massachusetts. I plugged my laptop into the power outlet and created the first draft of "B-43", which is now the album closer. A big part of why this project means so much to me is because of the circumstances that led to me creating it and what I learned about myself and others after those circumstances occurred. Although the impetus for this album was a break-up, this is not a break-up album, at least not entirely -- Redamancy explores love and heartbreak from all sides and the effects it has on those that go through it. This is a truly personal body of work and I hope that you enjoy it.

PreZZure - Darkside Of The Good Guy EP

The good homey PreZZure celebrates his 25th birthday with this four-track EP, Darkside Of The Good Guy. If you peeped The Woodside Boys, you know that he has the demons and isn't afraid of confronting those alternate sides of his mental/personality. Four tracks isn't enough, but it'll do. Nice lil' birthday gift for us, the fans, with the promise of an LP on the way. Grab the EP, and read his words on turning 25.

rockthedub.com presents The Woodside Boys

One thing about me, I love seeing cats collaborate. Nothing gets me hyper than talented individuals combining their creative efforts and making something new, refreshing and exciting. I'm not sure how many months ago it was - I wanna say it was this past Spring; I was having a conversation with Lyle Horowitz, and he was talking about some of the tracks he's done with PreZZure, and I said something to the effect of "you guys should knock out an album and have rockthedub drop it on Halloween". That must have sounded good to them, because I started getting rumblings of them really churning out some ill shit - even dubbing themselves The Woodside Boys. I'm not sure what a Woodside Boy is, but I know these two cats locked horns and created a pure beast. PreZZ goes ham on this one - he really taps into the darker, more sinister side of his psyche, with tracks like "Ghost" (my personal favorite) and "Possessed" really blur the lines of crazy MC and crazy MC who might fucking kill you. You've already heard "I'm The Best", where they flipped what is arguably the best promo on WWE programming of the last few years into an anthem for slept-on MCs. 10 tracks of terror, from two cats who should be highly sought after. Trick or treat... Woodside or die.

The Woodside Boys "Clappin'"

LinkLove this shit at times. Lyle will randomly hit me like "can't WAIT to send you this track PreZZure annihilated", and I'll be like "hmmm". Then he'll say he flipped the same track RZA flipped for "Liquid Swords", but a different section, THEN say PreZZ gets his Kendrick Lamar on. And I'm like - I NEED THIS NOW! Hour or so later? Fucking megaton bomb in the form of a laidback organ x PreZZ' signature blend of comic relief and biting reality. One of my favorite tracks from him, hands down. The Woodside Boys project is still set to drop on RTD on Halloween, and this is on it. As is "I'm The Best". You're scared now, ain'tcha?!?!

Lyle Horowitz - Let Them Eat Cake

Of course the boy Lyle Horowitz drops an instrumental album around 10:30 on a Sunday night that's inspired by "the last 20 years of 18th Century France as well as the uncertain economic and political landscape of the present times". Features from the likes of Adam Warlock and the boy PreZZure; remember, we'll be presenting Lyle x PreZZure's The Woodside Boys project on Halloween. Until then, love these beats and those rhymes. Viva la revolution!

[preview] PreZZure "Bang!"

The boy PreZZure threw a preview of this jawn that'll be found on his Dark Side Of The Good Guy album, which is set to drop on the 3rd of November. I'd go in on what the shit it's about, but he included a nice write-up - check it out: This ain't a fuck song, It's a real song. "Bang!" is about addiction. I personified addiction as a beautiful woman. A promiscuous demon so to speak. We all like to fuck with our addictions. We can't help it. We're addicted. We love the feeling of the high. Whatever your high is depends on your preference. For some there's drugs, alcohol and/or sex. Regardless once we've come accustomed with our addiction, we get lost in it. It consumes us. We fall victim to the addiction. This is simply an anthem for those who know the symptoms. Beware of addiction. Don't become a slave to your habits. At least not to your bad habits.

The Woodside Boys "I'm The Best"

The Woodside Boys "I'm The Best": Here's a treat that I've been waiting to drop. Ever since CM Punk dropped the best promo on RAW, I'd been wondering when someone was going to take Punk's fourth wall breaking and apply it to the Hip-Hop game. Oddly enough, I got sent this track from the Woodside Boys (aka PreZZure and Lyle Horowitz) a few weeks back, and was floored. I know they are working on a project that rockthedub will be dropping on Halloween 2011, but wasn't expecting this one at all. The fact that cats get it, and applied Punk's darts to their position within the game? And hit with the same bite as Punk did? Amazing. PreZZ rides that plodding riddim from Lyle perfectly. I know, the Woodside Boys project isn't dropping for a few weeks, but with Punk winning at Money In The Bank, and that awesome new t-shirt dropping, I HAD to make sure this one dropped before the big main event at Summerslam this Sunday. I'm rooting for Punk - not just because he's the "voice of the voiceless", but because he truly is the Best In The World right now.

PreZZure - The Reset Button

It's been a minute since a full project from PreZZure came over... hell, he wasn't even PreZZure when it dropped. Over the last half of a year, homey has been going through some ish - from female strife to whatever other shit goes on in the mind of a young Black male. I don't prod - that's my dude but we don't go in like that in conversation. Maybe we should... but then again, we'd not get interesting .zips full of interesting shit like this. Very leftfield - he opens the album over a dubstep hybrid sound, and other tracks are definitely Hip-Hop, but utilize odd bounces and wild samples to get their ish across. The kind of shit that I really fuck with, nahmean? There's a lot of cats who want to forgo their regular lives to get on that music shit. Not a lot of them are as talented as PreZZure is. A cat from NOW who knows about THEN but is making music for the future. Even features a cut produced by Lyle Horowitz. The two of them have some SHIT cookin', hopefully I get to leak one particular banger before Summerslam on the 14th. Just trust. Until now, go up to your console, hit that reset button and recalibrate what the fuck you thought was going on.

PreZZure "Watch You Go"

PreZZure "Watch You Go": It’s crazy, I was going to hit up PreZZure regarding The Reset Button (which rockthedub.com is presenting), because I remembered it was due out already. He hits me out of nowhere with this track, and lets me know that Reset is 80% done. I don’t rush great work, so we’ll get it out when it’s done, iight? In any case, this is the ultimate kiss-off to those exes out there. You have those in your life who you love, but you’re just wrong for each other. Beefing all the time, cold shoulders, all that shit. You just need to break it off. This is what you put on when you see that bitch walk away, laughing. Take a sip of something strong and let it all out. Not tears, nigga. That anger. Then go have some fun.

Lyle Horowitz Smiles Of A Summer Night

Random. Lyle Horowitz hitting me with a Bandcamp link like Saturday night or whenever it was, with this album? Fucking random. Smiles Of A Summer Night is said to have been in the production stages over the last year and a half, not too long after Auteur’s release, and Lyle feels this is his strongest work. Definitely feels a bit different – it’s immediately a bit “brighter” than a lot of the stuff I’ve heard from him, which might be due to the jazz and folk influences he admits to having on this project, but I also noticed a lot more names being shared on production: guys like Cashmere Brown, Adam Prince, Charles Hamilton, MidPoint and Chionesu all feature on this. I noticed that Fresh Daily’s “Easy”, one of my favorite cuts off of The Quiet Life, is featured, as well as cats like PreZZure, who is featured on three tracks. This isn’t just a Hip-Hop thing, though – you’ve got some singing (Dana LaRock has a great voice) and poetry in the mix as well. This is some Sangria shit – but you have to make sure you have the pieces of strawberry and other fruits in there. Really tropical and intoxicating, but only for the summer months. Maybe by a fire, maybe before some hot steamy sexual encounter. Who knows. No winter moods on this, though.

Lyle Horowitz Auteur: Director's Cut

You recently heard the extended version of "Chain Reaction", as well as saw the video for "By The Block". Now, Lyle Horowitz brings you the special Auteur: Director's Cut, a revamped version of the 2009 release. In this, you get five remastered tracks from the original, five remix/amended versions of Auteur cuts, as well as the video for "By The Block", iPod-ready to rock. I know 4/20 was a few days away, but this shit requires an open mind, a potent spliff, and time to digest, forrealsies. This is a dope release to get you ready for Lyle's Smiles Of A Summer Night, which features Fresh Daily, PreZZure, Charles Hamilton, P. Hall and many more artists. Firestarter.

PreZZure "Bust Dat Ass"

PreZZure "Bust Dat Ass" [clean | dirty]: The homey PreZZ is back to get his pockets fatter than Amber’s ass over a classic drum roll and chant, taken from The Reset Button. There’s something refreshing about PreZZure’s whole demeanor, no matter what track he gets on. Proper levels of braggadocio, flavor and ability. And raunch – the place where he likes to play “hide the salami” makes me appreciative that he’s included a clean version as well. I’m not sure when The Reset Button drops, but you better save anything you already have out there, b/c homey is about to totally revamp the game.

Lyle Horowitz ft. PreZZure & St. Vincent "Chain Reaction (Remix)"

Lyle Horowitz ft. PreZZure & St. Vincent "Chain Reaction (Remix)": I actually got to hear this remix a week or so ago, and instantly fell in love with PreZZure’s “I Gave You Swagger” take on the track’s title. So much so that I implored Lyle to do some kind of project with the two of them, on some narrative shit. Cohesion and all. Who knows if that present will ever be delivered, but PreZZ as a chain is dope in and of itself. This alternate remix (with the full St. Vincent sample) is taken from Horowitz’ Auteur: Director’s Cut LP, which finds Lyle updating his 2009 release. You need that.

Lyle Horowitz ft. PreZZure "Awesome"

Lyle Horowitz ft. PreZZure "Awesome": If PreZZure is Hip-Hop’s Miz, I guess I’m the bloggin’ Michael Cole. khalminers, this is taken from Lyle’s Spider’s Web Castle, which also features rhymes from Gooch, as well as a number of sicknan beats. Grab that via Bandcamp, for free or a fee, yadig?

PreZZure also has a number of things hanninin, including no longer being Mic Wilson, being on the bill for the Rap Radar Xmas Party at SOBs on the 23rd of December (which includes Joell Ortiz, Reek Da Villain, Fred Da Godson, with rumors of Busta Rhymes being in attendance also floating around). He’s also working on The Reset Button, which, if you’re lucky, will be presented once again by this very site. What’s next, PreZZure on the cover of XXL? Only time will tell…

Mic Wilson "The Brink"

Mic Wilson "The Brink" (prod. by Deal - The Villain): Back when "Exhibit Me" dropped, PreZZure said that he'd no longer be using the "PreZZure" name in regards to his music. So, let the Steven Michael Wilson era commence. And over this heatrock produced by DTV (plug EPic is available now! plug), it looks like we still have to regard dude as a problem. Elite Assembly keeps it rockin'; let the games begin!

PreZZure "Exhibit Me"

PreZZure "Exhibit Me":Why yes, this is definitely PreZZure adding his furious styles over Jay Electronica's "Exhibit C". That Just Blaze instrumental is too tough to let only one nigga rap on, although I think some of my peers will only tolerate a certain kind of nigga going in. By the power of the Internets, I got this pretty fresh out the oven, literally about an hour ago, and now it's yours. And for the six minutes PreZZ goes in on, this might be my favorite line:

"I love my older brother but my songs ain't on his radar". Too tough.
