This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of December 22, 2009 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary.

Our commentary this week focused on the upcoming Holiday Season and some other things here and there.

BE THE MEDIA | Buy The Book!

We had another great interview this week with media expert and author David Mathison ( on his latest book, Be The Media.

We talked about a lot of important Independent Media topics that are covered in Be The Media, ranging from:
  • The importance of now that almost anyone is able to create & distribute all sorts of media content cheaper and easier than ever (books, websites, radio shows, video, etc.)
  • Copyright vs. Creative Commons
  • Various U.S. laws that have restricted the creative offerings of mainstream media (TV, Radio, etc.) through controls in how things are distributed and what the average person can do about it can be done about it
  • How those entering into the Music Industry overall needs to hop onto using all forms of Independent Media to form a solid & dedicated fanbase while still earning money & keeping creative freedom
  • And LOTS of other things!
There aren't new episodes of Black Agenda Report or Direct EFX segments due to the length of this week's interview.

Ms.Porsh In My Zone Mixtape

New mixtape from the one like Ms.Porsh, and I think this might be her first mixtape. I've heard a lot of her freestyles, and I have posted some on RTD over the past few months, so its good to see her drop a full compilation with these gems on there. I also had no idea she was down with After Image - nice one. Anyways, here's a likkle gift from a likkle star. Enjoy it.

Season's Greetings From RA The Rugged Man

What the fuck did you expect?

Dumhi ft. The Koupon Klique "Merry Xmas"

Dumhi ft. The Koupon Klique "Merry Xmas": No, that's not Haj or anyone in Dumhi, nor is that anyone from Brooklyn's Koupon Klique. That's the nigga Big O, showing how they do it in Philly, keg status. And yes, he's rockin' an "i am dumhi" tee... I am lucky enough to have one of those, too. ANYWAYS, here's a special Christmas treat from Dumhi and The Klique. Enjoy this... burn a lil' tree tonight and rock out with a pitcher of beer - for yourself.

Shouts to Lickasha.

Thorough Thursday LIVE Feat. Curly Castro (12/24/09)

Special Christmas Eve treat from Abundance Child featuring the homey Curly Castro for Thorough Thursdays. If you're hanging out around 8PM tonight, hit up Abundance Child and get enlightened.

Winter Holiday Bash (12/23/2009)

For you Bostonians, there's a dope Hip-Hop show going down tonight, featuring M-Dot and the good folks over at EMS Productions. Shimmy your 21+ asses out there and get it poppin'!

Tanya Morgan - Brooklynati Sample Mix

I've been jammin' to this mix of samples from Brooklynati, and I definitely recommend it, especially if you're going to have a houseful of older heads around you during the Holidays. Maybe you can throw this on and sneak Brooklynati on. Bridge the gap!

Yule Prog Festival (12/23/2009)

The Third Annual Yule Prog Festival goes down tonight in Brooklyn, and it looks right up my alley. Not only are the Brown Bag AllStars going to be there, but the homey Elucid will be touching down around 11PM for an audio/visual meltdown. This celebrates Progressive Hip-Hop, so if you're on that wavelength, you need to be there.

Intuition "Don't Try"

Intuition "Don't Try" (prod. by Equalibrum): Girls Are Gonna Like Me was supposed to drop BEFORE Girls Like Me, but Intuition has decided to hold off on that, go a lil' different route with the mixtape and drop it AFTER Girls Like Me is released on January 26th. So, to hold you fiends over, he's dropping this strong cut that's primed to appeal to fans of everything indie. Give it a whirl, early Christmas gifts for my Generation Y folks, nahmean?

Bekay "Rapstar (Hunger Pains)"

"Rapstar [Hunger Pains]" (prod. by Alkota) documents Bekay's professional struggle in his pursuit to make it in this crazy industry. Peep the banner, which is taken from the album artwork designed by Skam2?, who is the creative force behind ATCQ's Beats, Rhymes & Life album cover and of course the artwork found in The Slim Shady LP. You can cop a physical copy here at or a digital copy here through iTunes."

Rickie Jacobs ft. Artic "Last Flight Ever"

Rickie Jacobs ft. Artic "Last Flight Ever": Buck Mizzy just passed along this banger from Air Jacobs, featuring two cats that got a lot of burn on RTD over the last 12 months (pardon me and my year-end sentimentality). I'm not up on a lot of Bmore Hip-Hop, but these cats have a lot of sick shit brimming, and I can only imagine what 2010 is going to hold.

Ichiban "Drugs"

Ichiban "Drugs" (prod. by Kid Hum): Here's a lil' leak that found its way into my mitts earlier today. Word on the tweets is that Ichi and Hum have a project about, well, drugas, but there's not much info on release dates or anything on it. See this as a pretty ill sneak preview from those elevated minds over in Colorado. Enjoy this at 4:20... or whatever time you get lifted.

Vote DJ Cable as NGDJ

Friend of the site DJ Cable is currently entered in the Pioneer/Beatport/DJ Magazine and Let's Mix "Next Generation DJ" competition, and I think you'd be playing yourself if you don't vote him in it. Hell, just check his track record on RTD alone. He's a 2x DMC UK Team Champion, and has dumb knowledge on different genres, and can blend AS WELL AS skratch and cut.

Voting is really simple: hit this link and the option to vote is right at the top. His The Mash Down Vol. 2 is up there as a sample of his skill. Do yourself a favor and show 'em who's next level.

Ritchcraft Say It Ain't So

Here's a free remix EP from the homey Ritchcraft, who's been passing around some of his remixes over the last six weeks or so. Dude has a real passion for Hip-Hop, and it really shows in his output. Check out some of his work:

If you're feeling any of those, head on over to his Bandcamp page and grab the EP for $free.99.

YC The Cynic "Say Superman"

YC The Cynic "Say Superman": 19 years old and reppin' the Bronx, YC The Cynic has a mixtape on the horizin called You're Welcome. It drops in Jan. 2010, and is presented by none-other than Chaundon. A while ago, he hit me with a track and was like "I have a feelin' you'll feel this"... and he was definitely right. This shit reminds me of the late 80's.

Shouts to iHeart Dilla.

Donwill & Spec Boogie "Sessiondary"

Donwill & Spec Boogie "Sessiondary" (prod. by Thee Funklord): I remember seeing @SpecBoogie talk to @DonWill about dropping by the studio and putting in some work. How crazy is it that not only did they knock this ill track out, but it was produced by my boy @TheeFunklord! Had no idea he was passing out his beats like that - I might have to go back and dig through those jawns.

Daniel Joseph "Decade"

Daniel Joseph "Decade" (prod. by Snake Eyes): Here's the latest leak from Espee's Gone Fishin' mixtape, which will be available on 12/31/09. The beat on this one is heavy - some intergalactic shit, but it works very well. Joseph really commandeers this one and rides it excellently. Heavy sound all around!

The Force MDs "This Christmas"

The Force MDs "This Christmas": Yes, the Force MDs are back, with a new album called Traditional Free Style... yeah, I don't know; with producers like K7, George Lamond, Angel Vasquez and Lissette Melendez, it looks like the album might be more FREE STYLE than freestyle. This isn't on that ghetto club shit though - this is an actual remake of the classic "This Christmas", and they definitely still have it. Enjoy.

[video] Vybz Kartel "Marie"

Eartha Kitt x DJ Cable

Eartha Kitt x DJ Cable "Santa Baby (Bishy Bashy Re-edit)": After last year's Brenda Lee Bmore retwerk, I figured DJ Cable had something slick up his sleeve. But putting "Santa Baby" over the "Unfinished Business" riddim (that Enigmatik and I introduced you to earlier this year in soundclash format)? It's so daft it just might work... and it does! Get your dancehall on to this classic with a twist.

And if you need a Christmas mix for your iPod/party, Cable hooked up a special mix this time last year that I just re-uploaded. Check it out!

Khi Kobane "I Getz Dowwnn!!!"

Khi Kobane "I Getz Dowwnn!!!": Ladies and gentlemen, here's some world premiere shit for you. This is the first leak from Elite Assembly-affiliate Khi Kobane's first release, The Big Bane Theory. He's one of the freshest (no question), and rocks some shit that would keep you warm while shoveling all of this now, or rock the party in your grandmamma's basement.

No word on when The Big Bane Theory will drop, but keep it locked!
