LL Cool J "Boomin' System (Zilla Rocca BLAST UP Remix)"

LL Cool J "Boomin' System (Zilla Rocca BLAST UP Remix)": Life is funny - sometimes, shit happens, other times, its like you will them to. We moved my son into a new room a couple of weeks back, and while painting, my wife played the "what is..." game, asking me about all types of shit I like/dislike/etc.; one question she asked me was what my favorite LL Cool J song was, and I realized then and there it was "The Boomin' System". I used to mark out for James Brown samples, and the video was such a cheesefest it was amazing. I remember being mesmerized when I first saw it. Anyways, that night, Zilla Rocca sends over this remix he did for a remix competition, and it just amazed me. I made that happen that night, right?

The thing about his remix, it reminded me of Coldcut's remix of "Paid In Full", where in the late '80s everything in Hip-Hop was so new and you could do shit like funk out a classic Hip-Hop diatribe into a seven minute opus; Rocca takes a tweeter-beater and slows it down, adding some fuzzy bass and some mechanical drums to the JB samples, and makes it a bigger animal in the process. I've been rinsing this one ever since, and finally asked if it could be shared. Boy am I glad Zilla said yes!

PS Word is that Curly Castro is going to be hopping on this!

UllNevaNo "Pickup Lines"

UllNevaNo "Pickup Lines": The homey UllNevaNo (who you should remember from his Color Purple mixtape) flipped a fresh Exile number and details a situation a lot of dude's get into. Living a crazy mixture of emotions before introducing yourself to a female... its crazy like that sometimes. I know where you're coming from, homey.

"Let me get your jersey" might be a new one for you guys LOL.

Anyways, UllNevaNo has his Color Brown mixtape on the way, where he drops gems over nothing but Kev Brown beats. Keep it locked for that one!

Pat Piff "People Talk":I don't know who Pat Piff is. I got a random tweet from someone I don't know, saying I gotta post this. I didn't know what to expect, and I DEFINITELY didn't plan on hearing a random flip of The Doors to be the basis of this beat. And I'm actually not mad - with no expectations off the rip, Piff really caught me. Me? I see a lot of people talking. I've got a feeling more people should be talking about dude. Will you?

Little Brother LeftBack LP Info

Little Brother's fourth album, LeftBack, drops on 4/20/2010 on Hall of Justus. This was reported to be an EP previously, but has been ironed into a full length, with beats coming from Khrysis, Denaun Porter, Zo!, J Bizness and more. Khrysis will also be rapping on this, as well as verses coming from Chaundon, Median, Torae, Truck North, Darien Brockington and others. Plans are also to include a limited edition-DVD of exclusive bonus material in the form of a documentary of tour and archival footage from LB's career. Should be a sick one.

Shouts to audible treats.

Lyriciss has been a name I've seen popping up on features and on plenty blogs, but never really spent the time to dig into his catalogue, or realy give his solo ish a chance. New for 2010 is this DJ Furious Styles mixed tape, The Practice, showcasing Lyriciss' flows, as well as features MCs like Theo Martins, RAtheMC and a host of dope producers. Looking for something new or smelling of the future? Grab this one.

Homeboy Sandman "Abduction" (prod. by 6th Sense): Sandman and 6th got a lot of love in 2009, so its only right that they link up and do a spaced-out cut about space aliens... no, wait. Both of these guys are out of this world, so of course the outerspace minions will abduct these two and have them jammin' in the intergalactic Summer Jam... damnit. DeepSpace Presents The Escape Tape

I've been chatting it up for a bit, and now DeepSpace's The Escape Tape is available for free download. It's really a project that highlights the homey O. Smith, a lyricist who is as witty as he is deep. This tape is not only mixed by the one and only DJ Nominal, but it features my thoughts about the DMV. Mixture of industry beats and fresh shit. RTD approved. Don't sleep.

Sene with Von Pea "Cantstandya": I'd bust some big statement on this... but I already wrote the press release; check it out: "Never taking any days off, Flawless Hustle is back less than four months after the release of the critically-acclaimed Money Isn’t Real compilation with another dip into the money pit of true Hip-Hop, entitled Stay Flawless. The first single from this project is a dream and a treat – Sene and Von Pea linked up for some serious fury, trading verses over a head-nodding, string-driven banger. Blaze an L of that good, throw your hoodie on and tell them fake niggas in your world what you really feel about them. Perfect kiss-off for a new year. Nice guys finish last, hustlers keep it movin’… Flawless".

The enigma that is Amber Rose has captivated mo' niggas than a little bit, and the homey Judah has concocted (no pun intended?) this bed of instrumentals that he'd wish to lay her own. This is some shit I'd think up, but it'd be to Leah Remini or some shit. Shouts to Dub MD.

Deal - The Villain EPic Promo Video #2

We hit you with the first promo video last week, and now we've got part 2, with "words from Deal - The Villain", finding DTV speakin' his mind about EPic, the Elite Assembly and just Hip-Hop in general:

EPic, February 2nd. RTD Records. Don't sleep.

Junclassic ft. Monsta X "Accordianz (Remix)"

Junclassic ft. Monsta X "Accordianz (Remix)" (prod. by huskynugz): The original flip of "Accordianz" was found on Southside's Savior, easily one of the better mixtapes of '09. Husky is becoming a thing of legend for his beats, and this one is crazy - the funky bass loop, the insane piano and that jazzy drum pattern flow together so effortlessly, but have entirely different lives on their own. Damn. This is for the purp chokers.

Wordsmith "Slanguistics"

Wordsmith "Slanguistics" (prod. by Strada): New leak from Wordsmith's The Vintage Vault Mixtape, which is mixed by DJ Yckor and DJ Leche, hosted by DJ Ames and presented by Refined Hype, DJ Booth, Coast 2 Coast & Frostwire, and drops on February 23rd. Phew. For some reason, Words and Strada make some marvelous shit together. Who knows what else is in the vault...

The Spitzwell Brotherz "To Spit Is Yours": Wow. Franke Phresh hit me with this over the weekend, but didn't give me much info - like this is over Black Sheep's "The Choice Is Yours" instrumental! Taken from their The Clean Cut Emcees project, Spitzwell doesn't leave anything overturned. Bars upon bars upon bars is what they have. Can't wait for more of this project to leak out!

MiLKMEN ft. Dutch New York "Popular Demand Freestyle"

MiLKMEN ft. Dutch New York "Popular Demand Freestyle": Just got passed this freestyle. This collabo is just as crazy as the last one, dipping from in your face flavor to a likkle auto-tune to straight jugular stabbing from Dutch NY. That instrumental is too infectious not to touch. Enjoy.

Nucci Reyo "Homies In Hell"

Nucci Reyo "Homies In Hell" (prod. by Sid Roams): Here's an interesting one from Jersey's own Nucci Reyo, speaking on a homey who passed and never got right with God. As much music comes out dealing with killing niggas and the like, not too many artists explore religion and spirituality in those situations. I don't know if the beat drove the lyrics or vice versa, but this is an intriguing one.

Shouts to DotGotIt's Clubba Lang for blasting me this on Saturday. I'm playing a super game of catch-up right now, follow me.

EMS x RTD: ThrowBack Thursday Friday 017

Revalation "Heart Of The City (Secret City Remix)" (prod. by Hitman Hires): Yeah, it's definitely not Thursday, but even if I HAD received this yesterday, by the time I got home and had my PC acting like it didn't know me, this wouldn't have gone up anyway. Not really a "ThrowBack" either, but it's a remix of a Commercial Interruption cut. Damn. We might need to rethink this whole ThrowBack Thursday concept - LMAO. Enjoy.

Brown Bag AllStars "The Workhorse"

Brown Bag AllStars "The Workhorse" (prod. by The Audible Doctor) [clean \ dirty]: And so, we reach the end of Brown Bag Season. This isn't the end of BBAS at all - just the end of this chapter. They got crazy exposure over the last year, and is well deserved, and from some of the things various BBAS members are cooking up on RTD alone, 2010 should be an ill year. Keep it locked!

King Britt ft. Astrid Suryanto "Now"

King Britt ft. Astrid Suryanto "Now": King Britt's final "conventional" artist-album, The Intricate Beauty, drops on 4/20/2010 on Nervous Records. Yes, you read that right. This won't be the last we hear from Britt, who plans on moving into more improvisational electronic composing. The way he made this album sounds crazy, to: he took tiny bits from random CDs and worked on the tracks in Ableton Live, and he plans on taking the bits that make up Intricate Beauty as a "live pack". What's great is that the timeless Soul feel that he infuses into his music is still very much in tact. Look to this one for more intriguing music for years to come.

Shouts to Justin for this one!

Skiggy Rapz "Hands Up"

Skiggy Rapz "Hands Up": This isn't the cut Reyn sent as the single; I can't help it though. Taken from Skiggy's 2009 Bang To The Boogie EP (which you can get on CD for $5 via using discount code LOVE), this is just some feel-good shit to kick the weekend off right with. I imagine dude does (or should) open his concerts with this one. The single "Talk To You Soon" sounds like John Mayer walked into the studio and put his vibes into the cut, and drops on iTunes on 1/26/2010.

This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of January 20, 2010 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary.

Our extended commentary this week focused on the current tragedy with the earthquake aftermath in Haiti, including the current casualties, what are other countries going to offer in regards to accepting Haitians of all ages into their countries post-recovery, worries of profiteering off of Haiti's issues pre- and post-recovery, the ignorant statements of Pat Robertson & Rush Limbaugh and some other things.

We also talked about the current Cybersecurity Act of 2009 draft that's out in the U.S. now that could give the president the right to shut down the internet with their own definition of "danger", NBA Basketball player Washington Wizard star Gilbert Arenas' current legal troubles & how that ties in to Black Athlete stereotypes and other things here and there.

During this week's show, we had a great interview with Brooklyn, NY's own independent Hip-Hop MC G3MZ (;

Some of the topics we've touched base on included G3MZ's musical & family background, his current feeling about the NYC Hip-Hop scene for both good and bad & it's need to change, the lack of respect lately for lyrical MCs via the mainstream and beyond, personal and other politics of the music business, his upcoming mixtape and album projects, how he connected with the N.A.N./Elegant Hoodness movement and a lot more!

There is a new episode of Black Agenda Report in this week's broadcast but none for Direct EFX (due to not receiving before broadcast time).

Feel free to check out some recent episodes of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast over at our official blog, - all of the shows are clean/radio friendly.
