Wordsmith - Vintage Files Episode 1

Here's a behind-the-scenes look at the Vintage Experience album photo shoot from the homey Wordsmith. Vintage Experience drops digitally in March 2010, but before that, Words will be dropping a mixtape, Vintage Vault, on February 9th.

M11X & Illroots.com present DJ Low Key - De La Extras #2

I spotted this on illRoots the other day and was intrigued, because I had just been listening to an old Prince Paul mix and remembered a lot of my favorite De La Soul cuts were from his hand. Here's some info on this mix and the exhibit its promoting:

Denver's DJ Low Key joins acclaimed artist M11X and popular hip hop site Illroots.com for De La Extras #2, his second tribute to rap legends De La Soul. With 2009 commemorating the 20th anniversary of De La Soul's landmark debut album, DJ Low Key put together an unconventional mix of De La rarities, remixes, bootlegs & b-sides to accompany MX11 aka Mikal Hameed's De La Soul audio sculpture (featured on the mixtape's cover) on the De La Soul - 3 Feet High & Rising Art Tour. With the tour being postponed, Low Key decided to release the tape in conjunction with Illroots.com and send it on M11X's upcoming solo national tour. [preview] Deadpool Team-Up #897

Out this week is Deadpool Team-Up 897, which features the mighty Ghost Riders. Back when I was heavy into Marvel comics, the main characters I followed were Wolverine (and the X-Men), The Punisher, Ghost Rider and some other randoms, which my favorite of all time being Deapdool, so its kind of crazy to see these two link up. I'm guessing there might be an on-going Ghost Rider series out somewhere, but I had no desire to see the movie, so this will be crazy to check out. Joulz Il The Il Identity

Today marks a new chapter in the career of the MC known as Joulz Il. Last year, heads were asked to take part in an Il Experiment, which garnered interest and brought people some ill music. The New Jou Year has given us the fruit of that labor in The Il Identity, which can be download for free via Joulz Il's Bandcamp page. You should be familiar with some of these cuts, while others might be knew, but know that they are all dope, and all are produced by Entity Starr. Thing is, this is just the tip of the iceberg... the next couple of months are about to get very hot and hectic for Hip-Hop.
