Nico The Beast "Wake the Beast"

I'm proud to announce that Nico the Beast's The Beast Within album is set to drop on May 27th. One of Philly's illest lyricists has been putting in work for a minute, both with his affiliated families (Beat Garden, Memory Lane, Exponent Entertainment) or for dolo, and when I caught wind of this track back in January, I knew there were no games being played. Nico's been working on The Beast Within for a bit, and wanted to throw out the single, "Wake The Beast" and a MEAN B-side, so walk softly around the Beast and grab these now!

Nico The Beast "Wake the Beast" (prod. by Vanderslice)
: Straight venom. If you had a question as to how Philly does it, or just doubted Nico's G, he's got a few choice words for you, your crew and whomever else is doubting.

Nico The Beast ft. Stupid Genius "One Time" (prod. by Vibe): This cut has the thick beat, something that just let's Nico coast with his intricate flows. It's one thing to talk tough - mad cats do that. It's another to go at cats, break down Lion King references, and do it with styyyyyyyle. Nico's got the full package, bitch. [@Vibe215 | @StupidGenius100]

Grab both tracks HERE. And be on the lookout for more info on The Beast Within... Nico's got a lot going on, and doesn't waste time on this album. He's touching on real life subjects, and from the joints I've heard, it's going to be an amazing body of work.

DP strikes again. Presents Joe Stu Stamp Of Approval

Read more » | 1 Comment »

I'm all about being introduced to new artists, especially when sites like the homies at Dot Got It put their "stamp" on something, you gotta check 'em out. Here's their blurb on Joe Stu's Stamp of Approval project: "Atlanta by way of Bronx MC Joe Stu releases his newest project entitled "Stamp Of Approval" and that's exactly what you'll give this after listening to it. Although Joe can be called a conscience rapper, his voice and aggression to attack beats can easily fool the average listener. Backed by platinum producer Sol Messiah and up-and-coming beatsmith D.R.U.G.S. "Stamp Of Approval" touches on everything from racial tension to family struggles to plain straight up lyrical bombardment. In a present day where rappers are all over each others beats talking about stuff the majority of us don't live or care about, Joe Stu is the perfect breathe of fresh air with original music for all people. Enjoy". Hit the jump for download and tracklist links.

MF Grimm "I Am King": Been a minute since I've listened to some new Grimm, and it's great to hear that he's not lost a bit of his venom. He comes correct on this cut, letting everyone know why he truly is the king over an anthemic beat. This is taken from You Only Live Twice: The Audio Grapic Novel, which is set to drop on May 18th. Octopus Jones "Ray Charles"

Octopus Jones "Ray Charles": Here's a track from Octopus Jones 8, an instrumental album (or an "album with no words") from Khris P of Kream Team. This has an ill Electro vibe to it - very catchy with the synth, but its still got its own solemn vibe to it.

This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of May 5, 2010 is a rebroadcast of the show from the week of August 20, 2008 which contains some Old and Classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary.

This week we had a on point interview with author Douglas A. Blackmon for his book, Slavery By Another Name: The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from the Civil War to World War II (now currently out on Doubleday Books), which "brings to light one of the most shameful chapters in American history—when a cynical new form of slavery was resurrected from the ashes of the Civil War and re-imposed on hundreds of thousands of African-Americans until the dawn of World War II" by throwing Black Men, Women and Children into prison in the South for labor purposes under false pretenses to be arrested.

Feel free to hit him up the official book website,

Due to the interview, there is no new segment of Black Agenda Report and no Direct EFX segment (due to summer break for colleges).

Feel free to check out some recent episodes of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast here on - all of the shows are clean/radio friendly.

L.E.G.A.C.Y. Project Mayhem Sampler Tape

Read more » | 1 Comment »

Here's a 20-minute sampler tape of Project Mayhem cuts, freestyles and a few jawns from Legsclusives that L.E.G.A.C.Y. and 9th Wonder cooked up to give to a North Carolina-based clothing company who was interested in working with Legs back in 2003. The plans ultimately bore no fruit, but the tape has been recovered from the vaults, and it's here for you.

Drake ft. Kanye West & Lil' Wayne "Forever (DviousMindZ Remix)": D has been making some sick remixes as of late, and sent this one out today. Lovin' the hi-hat/skittery drum combo on this one. Makes it slick... slick enough to not miss Eminem!

Mr. Dibbs Inducing Panic EP

The homey Elucid asked me if I had heard this, and didn't even know the shit existed. When I think back to my late 90s/early 00s of underground Hip-Hop listening, Mr. Dibbs was always a named that popped up. Whether it was a random production credits, his work with 1200hobos or his awesome Turntable Scientifics mixtape, I've been all about his brand of turntablism. I gave this EP a chance on my way home from work yesterday, and was in awe. First off, the prank calls are hilarious and fucking random. There's my favorite, "The Warpigs Routine", where the classic Black Sabbath track gets destroyed and rebuilt. Or the awesome Megamix of El-P tracks on Def Jux, just because.

Be on the lookout for his forthcoming Dead World album, which, if it sounds like the scatterbrained soundscapes that are on this EP, should be the fucking shit.

Zumo Kollie ft. LJC "The Arrival"

Zumo Kollie ft. LJC "The Arrival" (prod. by D-Man): I hate not being up on shit. Remember Potholes' Ocean State Sampler, bigging up the Providence, RI Hip-Hop scene? @ZumoKollie was on that. That dropped in December 2009, but in November 2009, Zumo dropped his Idiot Savant project, which is just as ill - if not iller. This cut is dope, as its kind of like the introductory track for a nigga who just realized what his art is worth, and where he can go with it. I'm not mad at this at ALL, especially with D-Man on the boards. Grab the full project, if you're feelin' it. You won't be disappointed.
