Jersey Fresh Jam 2013: The Aftermath
See, some experiences aren't experiences until they're experienced. Being able to be with my people, taking in the sights and sounds of another Jersey Fresh Jam? You can't put it into words. It's just an amazing time with a creative group of amazing New Jerseyans. From all of the talented graffiti artists (who did everything from painting Hunter S. Thompson to Game of Thrones characters) to the talented acts like Black Collar Biz and the Blackout Kings, Molly Rhythm, Skrewtape (who hit me with a copy of his Skumbag Millionaires album), DEMO, and many others getting on the stage and showing the enormous talent that's housed within the 609 area code. I didn't get to build with EVERYONE I wanted to, but that's for another time. There's just something in the air when NJ hip-hop family gets together.
I won't take too much of your time; I'll let these pictures do the talking. Here is my collection of shots from the Jam, as well as the awesome pics from V2Gphotography (whattup, Venomous?!?!). Jersey Fresh Jam 2012: Official Music Line-Up
I ended up not making it to the Jersey Fresh Jam last year, and hear it was hectic. With word of this year's line-up touching down already? I can't wait to check it out! Hosted by this cat Outburst, who I met last weekend at the Garden Variety and is a good dude (and featuring DJ Ahmad on the decks), this year's line-up is insane. Biz Mighty, Black Collar Biz, Venomous2000, Mortal Shellz, Yasin, King Don, Surg & Hellfire, Rich Quick, Mr. Fickle, FEED, Skrewtape, Physical Graffiti, Tone Liv, Emcee Jermaine, KV AND Rhymageddon?! Feels like a "Best of Garden Variety" thing for REAL! If you want to see what that real Jersey Hip-Hop is like, come out to the Jam this year (August 11th) and be amazed.

Fifteen minutes of fury. Dude's set is great, especially when he decides to scrap his line-up and asked J. Gainey to just drop a beat and let him spit. Dude's phenomenal. Forgive my camera phone.
Rich Quick - I'm With The DJ
Been waiting for this one, and goddamn is it worth it! Rich Quick is the truth, straight up and down. I got an advanced copy of this yesterday and rocked to it on the way to the Garden Variety show, and was thoroughly impressed. I've known Quick was a great MC, but the level of versatility in his rhymes? You really see it in this tape. He rips a grip of great beats, one of my favorits being "Me & The Biz", which he did with an MC named Biz Mighty, who I definitely had no idea about, but truly impressed me at the GV show last night (more on that in the next day or so). Don't sleep on this one, trust we. You won't be disappointed.
