Offshore Drilling CMJ Watch!

The Colorado Rap Report has, um, reported that Offshore Drilling (which is currently at 47,800 downloads on FrostWire alone) cracked the top 20 of the CMJ Hip-Hop Chart, placing at #19! If you remember, OD was in the mid-30s last week, so this is a crazy jump!

Lots of love and thanks to all the artists involved, the heads who posted, and those who are just discovering the project. Trust, we're in the lab cookin' up stuff for the next go-round...

EDIT Here's the issue placing Offshore Drilling at #19.

EDIT The Colorado Rap Report posted that OD is now at #17. When I see the CMJ article with it, I'll update. I also hear that WRRC 107.7 in Lawrenceville, NJ (aka Rider University) has a show that charted this. I live a stone's throw away from that college. Whomever dropped it there, get at me!

EDIT Here's proof positive of OD hitting #17!

Offshore Drilling On FrostClick!

Earlier this year, I featured FrostWire when they featured Black ELement's A Major Minority project on their ill P2P site. Over the last few weeks, I've been in talks with peeps over at FrostWire (whattup Kademlia?!?!), who spoke to my homey Hav about Offshore Drilling and possibly putting it on FrostWire. And sure enough, after what seems like a bit of back-and-forth making sure we had all ducks in a row, FrostWire has featured Offshore Drilling, and offered it up for download! I did a nice lil' write-up over there, touching on the project, but if you check this site (or many of the blogs who bigged it up - thanks!), you should be up on it. It's just dope to have a dope project that I helped put together not only getting that love, but making marks outside of my normal circle of life. You feel me?

And remember when I spoke on Offshore Drilling hitting the CMJ Top 40 Hip-Hop Charts last week? I found CMJ's Replay blog, which has a .PDF of that week's journal up (here's a mirror just in case that disappears). And just so you know - this ain't the end; it's definitely just begun. Keep an ear to the ground.

EDIT Here's a pic of Offshore Drilling from FrostWire's welcome screen! Props to @gubatron.

Offshore Drilling Hits The CMJ Charts!

Kid Hum's Offshore Drilling compilation dropped on this very blog about a month ago, and the word is that its charted on CMJ's Top 40 Hip-Hop releases! For some unheards, that's pretty damn good! Respect to everyone who downloaded/shared the project, all the talented individuals who contributed their craft to making this a great project. Working on getting it up on FrostWire - hold tight, torrenters!

Kid Hum & RTD Present Offshore Drilling

Don't you love when a plan comes together? In looking back over past e-mails, it seems as I first discussed the idea to flip Fossil Fuel into Offshore Drilling with Kid Hum back in December of 2008. Six months, that's a decent turnaround time, no? In that timeframe, I've been thoroughly amazed at how slick the tunes coming in have been... I'm always amazed when an idea comes to fruition. I would like to say this is all my doing - I just played middleman, sowing seeds and contacting heads. I want to shout out EVERYONE who contributed to this project, from Hum being so receptive to the MCs hitting us with some explosive material to the various websites who've helped spread the word on this endeavour. Now you can finally enjoy what I've been waiting to drop on you guys...

Braille "Thinking Shoes"

Braille "Thinking Shoes" (prod. by Kid Hum): Here's a leak from Offshore Drilling, which will drop on Monday (May 11th). It's been a long-time coming for this, and throughout the many e-mails I've exchanged with Hum (and the host of fresh MCs who laced these beats), I knew it'd come out dope. Getting Braille to contribute was definitely a blessing - I believe the night Hum told me he'd be lacing one of the tracks, I randomly saw a Braille track featured on Making The Band 4. Is that irony? I don't know, but I do know that Braille weaved some cautionary lines, making you really think about the idea of trying to be someone else. I know I used to think "it'd be cool to be _____", but when you realize that everyone has some kind of strife and problems in their life, you know that you just have to live with the cards you were dealt.

Well, that's what I took away from it. Tell me what you think. And make sure you didn't miss The Fuel EP, which dropped this past Monday. Enjoy.

Drake "Take You Down"

Drake "Take You Down": I guess its good to be friends with Jamaican Pirates. Enigmatik laced your Internets with this freestyle taken from Friends With Money: The Drought Is Over (Drake Edition), which is set to drop Monday, May 11th (which is the same day Kid Hum and I are dropping Offshore Drilling). Enjoy this smooth R&B tonight with your tasty.

Kid Hum & RTD Present The Fuel EP

We dropped the preview to Offshore Drilling last week, and now bring you the first fruits of our labor: The Fuel EP. "Fuel" was one of the illest cuts from Fossil Fuel, and ended up being one of the tracks that MCs gravitated towards when doing this compilation. We've got two dynamic versions of "Fuel" on this EP, as well as Kid Hum's original...

01: Kid Hum "Fuel" (original version) [prod. by Kid Hum]

There's one more version of "Fuel" that you've heard before, and will be featured on Offshore Drilling, as well as more cuts from both Sky 7th and Junclassic. We hope you guys enjoy this - and if you do, please spread the word!

PREVIEW: Kid Hum x RTD Offshore Drilling

I've been telling you about this project for a bit (as has Kid Hum and Fake Shore Drive). Myself and Hum have been trying to secure some ill tracks, using instrumentals from his Fossil Fuel project, and have a dope project to show for it. We got the cover art (shouts to the girl Uriela, as per usual) the other night, and figured it made sense to drop the tracklist on you as well. Check out the fruits of our labor...

1. Cy Yung "Audobon"
2. Whygee "Klonopins"
3. Prezzure "Never Say Never"
4. Sunken State "Gingivitis"
5. Brown Bag All-Stars "Dissappointment"
6. Junclassic "Angst"
7. Joulz Il "My Microphone"
8. Hellz Yea! "RTD Anthem
9. L. Chanes "Church"
10. Pugz Atomz ft. Primeridian & Awdazcate "The Ride"
11. Braille "Thinking Shoes"
12. Cy Yung "Cy De B"
13. Blueface (Sky 7th & Lou Sleefe) "50 Years"
14. Bonus Track: Junclassic "Passport"
15. Bonus Track: Sunken State "Cavities"

PS Watch out for the Fuel EP from Kid Hum and myself, which serves as a sampler to this main course.

Primeridian ft. Imani "Good Mornin' High Noon"

Primeridian ft. Imani "Good Mornin' High Noon" (prod. by Dirty Dunnz): Here's a fresh slice of old school appeal from the forthcoming mixtape from Primeridian and Dirty Dunnz. Pugs Atomz & Primeridian are featured on a track that's dropping on Offshore Drilling, whenever that comes out. Shit's the shit, too. Fuck what you heard.

Junclassic "Angst" (preview)

Junclassic "Angst" (tagged): Here's another preview from the Offshore Drilling project I'm working on with Kid Hum. Hum himself has been a fan of this one ever since he grabbed it. This is the second track Jun contributed to the project, and both came out fresh. His delivery is so on point - truly one of my favorite MCs right now.

This is an unmastered, tagged up version. The full project will be coming in March, by hook or by crook! Keep it locked for more info.

WhyGee "ChumpSin Pink"

WhyGee "ChumpSin Pink": Here's the title track from a forthcoming DVD that WhyGee has coming. WhyGee is one of the Colorado cats that Kid Hum has put me onto (Sunken State is another one), and he will be featured on the Offshore Drilling compilation. The homey RM threw this up on FH, and included the "ChumpSin Pink" video:

I'll do one better and flip this video of a recent WhyGee performance:

Cy Yung "3 Little Pigs"

Cy Yung "3 Little Pigs" (prod. by Centric): Here's track #19 off that Back 2 Lyfe: The Return Of Greatness mixtape. I might need to get my son up on this rendition, he loves when I read Three Little Pigs to him.

Watch out for Cy Yung's contribution to Offshore Drilling...

Joulz Il "Fuel (My Microphone)" [snippet]

Joulz Il "Fuel (My Microphone)" [snippet]: Here's the first peek into the Offshore Drilling project I'm working on in promoting Kid Hum's Fossil Fuel album. The track heard here is "Fuel", and what you get is a tagged-up snippet of verses 1 & 2 from Dallas, Texas' own Joulz Il. Some fine lyricism over that piano-driven track. Joulz' "Northern Lights" piece in the first verse is what hooked me, instantly. Hopefully this will help light a fire under the cats who are still working on their parts, too!

Bonus Beats Joulz Il vs. T-Pain "Phantom That (rock the dub VIP)": this blend is a direct result of the reasoning behind Entity Starr and Joulz Il remixing "Imagine That". I hope you enjoy!

Junclassic "Reel Raw"

Junclassic "Reel Raw" (prod. by Iron Curtain): Jun hit me with this cut last night; I saw it on 2DB, and realized I didn't have the shit! This is off the forthcoming Iron Soul EP, which drops in the new year. Jun hit me with a cut for a project I'm working on, and it hits harder than the hobgoblin. You've been warned!
