Very Nice!

Unfortunately this is not a good time for up-and-comin MCs that actually have something to say. Just look what happened to Papoose, Little Brother, or Saigon. Maybe they should invent some dance moves and write a rap to it.

Eh I feel what you're saying, but I think what happened to Pap and Sai were just as much their faults as anything. Papoose got hooked up with Kay Slay, got signed to Jive (?!?!?!) and ended up leaving b/c, alas, they can't handle Hip-Hop. Saigon doesn't know how to let shit roll off his back, and got flustered. Being in the business takes a certain kind of person - you can't scream "I'm ready for a deal" then not be ready for the deal...

Well, but even if they made the best moves business wise and landed at the right label their albums would have ended up on the shelf. In my opinion cats like Sai, Papoose, Bishop Lamont or Joell Ortiz should go the independent route again because they are of no valuable interest for any major label. They have no so-called hit songs like "Ballin" or "This is why I'm hot" which can generate ringtone money nor do they come with any gimmick like a special dance (Souljah Boy) or singing through a fucking vocoder (T-Pain).

I was actually thinking about this the other day. Listening to Lupe, you can tell dude has flows, but I wondered why guys can't grow a pair and make radio-friendly heat? I mean, is it THAT hard to be intelligent and accessible?

"I mean, is it THAT hard to be intelligent and accessible?"

DAMN good question. I wish someone would research that shit and let some of us know what's up because I think the majority of Hip Hop is going to hell in a hand-basket because we don't have ENOUGH artists that are just that: intelligent and accessible.
