Joulz Il "Fuel (My Microphone)" [snippet]

Joulz Il "Fuel (My Microphone)" [snippet]: Here's the first peek into the Offshore Drilling project I'm working on in promoting Kid Hum's Fossil Fuel album. The track heard here is "Fuel", and what you get is a tagged-up snippet of verses 1 & 2 from Dallas, Texas' own Joulz Il. Some fine lyricism over that piano-driven track. Joulz' "Northern Lights" piece in the first verse is what hooked me, instantly. Hopefully this will help light a fire under the cats who are still working on their parts, too!

Bonus Beats Joulz Il vs. T-Pain "Phantom That (rock the dub VIP)": this blend is a direct result of the reasoning behind Entity Starr and Joulz Il remixing "Imagine That". I hope you enjoy!

Remedial Reality TV: Real Chance Fight Club

I don't watch this show, but I'm kind of pissed I missed this - even though it looks like some seriously staged bullshit:

Do bottles break that easily over a bitch head? I also like how it went from "man I'm just chillin' with my ladies" to "SHUT UP FOO WASSCRACKIN'?!?!?" - and where's the blood!??! Dude got cracked in the head with a bokkle, and there's no sign of blood? Comedy.

F.A.T. "What's It Gonna Be"

F.A.T. "What's It Gonna Be": Here's the first fruit of the partnership Fresh As Tommi inked with Gallic Wars. This is taken from the G-Unit & Gallic Wars Presents Hell On Earth: Chaos & Anarchy mixtape, which is hosted by Hot Rod, and will be available for free download on Jan. 30th. They go in with that sultry R&B stylee over the "Ayo Technology" instrumental. I love that beat.

This is taken from Friday's Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg. Mr. Kennedy is one of my favorite personalities in the WWE right now - his whole ring entrance is the shit. Go cop his DVD if you're so inclined.

Windows 7 Beta

I personally have no desire to fuck with a new Windows OS as of yet (hell, I just bought my wife a netbook BECAUSE it had XP on it), but for those who just need to be on that cutting edge, The Leak Source has provided direct links to the new Windows 7 Beta.

Chamillionaire Mixtape Messiah 6

I wasn't really the biggest fan of Chamillionaire when he first came out, I'll admit. I like that he's definitely consistent, and that he doesn't give a fuck about what's popular - he is gonna do his thing regardless. Here's his latest mixtape.

1. Best Rapper Alive

Lil' Wayne ft. Pharrell "Yes"

Lil' Wayne ft. Pharrell "Yes": Here's another one of those NMC exclusives. This one is major though... apparently no one else has it. What's funny is, this shit sounds like Skateboard P been fucking with that Dubstep (dare I say THUGSTEP?!?!), ya feel? That bassline is kind of serious, right? I haven't been fucking with Weezy joints as of late, but this might be my favorite joint of his since "A Milli". Oh, that Chuck D "YES!" scratch? Icing on the cake.

THIS is the kind of shit I listen to when I'm 3/4 the way into a 40. Can I get an instrumental, with the "YES!" scratch in it!?

Via nation by way of Splash.

Infamous ft. The Jeanyus "The Session"

Infamous ft. The Jeanyus "The Session": Gotta love exclusives. Shouts to Infamous and The Black Committee for hooking rock the dub with this one. Watch out for A Taste Of Chicago 2, which is set to drop Summer 2009 (you can check out A Taste Of Chicago here). Jeanyus goes IN on his, by the way. Don't sleep! Thanks to them for hooking this one up.

related The Black Table Committee "A Taste Of Chicago"

Kanye West "Love Lockdown (High School Crush Remix)"

Kanye West "Love Lockdown (High School Crush Remix)": High School Crush is the fuzzy electro-lovechild of Danny Intrikut and Just Jeryl. Yesterday, Jeryl sent me a link to this remix while I was at work, and I almost had to leave the job. This remix does what most of the remixes I've received couldn't: it injects some funk and feeling behind Kanye's cold verses. Most remixes seemed like they were trying to match what Kanye did with this joint, while HSC turned gave Kanye a batch of Jolt! cola, turned him upside down, and shook him all about.

Media Contender got the (enviable) task of leaking this one to the masses, so I have to give them props in this. But I'm not happy about it!

Bonus Beats High School Crush "Raging Clue"

"Hip-Hop Needs Balance" T-Shirt

Saw this link in my boy Trackstar's Gmail status, then got intrigued; I'm a Libra (the Scales), plus I'm a fan of the balance in the Hip-Hop. Then I got further intrigued when I realized that the tee was Trackstar's idea. For $15, you should cop one, too - you even get two free CDs with your purchase! Sizes range from M through XXXL. Go grab one.

TGIF out this bitch. I'm so glad this work week is over. RIP to those we lost this week.

It's weekend time! Onandonandonandonandonand!

Jadakiss "Can't Stop Me"

Jadakiss "Can't Stop Me": Here's a clean, unmastered blast of "audio heroin" from the homey Jadakiss of his forthcoming album, which is now set to drop in March. I haven't been mad at the material I've heard leaked so far, but who's to say what the full length is going to sound like.

Shouts to BoBO for this one.
Bonus Beats Jadakiss "I Stay Ten Toes Down" [via Clockwork Music]

Nico The Beast "Underground Kings"

Nico The Beast ft. Reef The Lost Cause "Underground Kings" (prod. by Alex Wood): Damn, I guess that ill Hip-Hop was waiting for 2009 to show its face. I been waiting for cats to body tracks like Nico and Reef did. This is taken from Nico's Dinner Is Served mixtape, and features DJ Nex Millen on the cut.

Props to the homey Dom for this one.

Kid Hum On Fossil Fuel Samples

Going through my RSS feeds, I noticed an article Kid Hum did for T.R.O.Y., discussing the samples he used for his recently-released instrumental Hip-Hop album, Fossil Fuel. Dude is on his grind with the publicity right now, which includes this very blog. If everything goes according to plan, you should be getting a compilation that I'm working on, with Hum's blessing, called Offshore Drilling, which is essentially some of my favorite MCs going IN over Kid Hum's tracks off this amazing album. So far, Junclassic and Joulz Il have each turned in some sick renditions of his joints, and I'm in talks with a host of other cats to get in on this project. Once I get deeper into it, I might slide that Joulz Il track a bit early, as a teaser. I'll keep you informed!

Rukus "Dear Tatiana"

Rukus "Dear Tatiana" (prod. by Kid Konnect): I haven't yet found the words to describe how I feel about the disgusting atrocity of the Oscar Grant murder. The boy Jonny Walker pretty much expressed exactly how I was feeling, and Rukus, with Kid Konnect on the beat, took it a step further. Here's Ruk's words on this track, and the situation: "The song is basically my attempt first at an open letter to Tatiana, the family, and then anyone willing to listen. Its not a calling out of the police; its not a call for blood or riots; i mean I could list all the injustices that occur on a daily/weekly basis involving the police. But this is not that song...this is just a reminder of what happens when people are gone...who is left behind, how we perceive life, and basically how I felt as a young black man upon seeing the video and what I imagine I would tell that little girl who has lost her father." I can only imagine what my family would have to go through if this happened to me.

Ruk also passed along this link, for those who want to get "be a part of the process to bring the police officer and his department to justice". I pray for the family of Oscar Grant, and hope that he rests in peace.

DJ Cable "Work It 'Til Infinity"

DJ Cable "Work It 'Til Infinity": The homey DJ Cable is back and on his grind with these blends. Check out his DJ-friendly blend of Missy's "Work It" over that classic Souls of Mischief jam, "'93 Til Infinity".

Give A Goat (Jan. 2009)

In December of 2007, I remember watching Good Morning America with my wife, and a story about World Vision allowing people to cop goats for people in countries where that's necessary hit home. Not that I need goats, but it seemed way more practical and interesting that just sending money to a random organization and getting a baseball card with a kid on it. This past Christmas, they had the story on again, but this time I got intrigued, and hit up the World Vision website. I saw a spot where I could order a gift catalog, and recently got mine in the mail. I was amazed with the stuff you could buy for those in need worldwide: goats, chickens, backpacks filled with supplies for school, water pumps, vaccines, etc., all going to a great cause. I then realized I have a blog that gets a decent number of hits daily, and figured I should do something...

So, my idea for 2009 (well, one of my ideas) is to give a goat every month. I really want to do more, but to gauge the response, I'm going with the goat. In their most recent catalog, goats run $75 a pop. You figure 15 people pony up $5, that's the goat right there. Easy cheese, right? So, let's prove to the world that a) we do care and b) you really can do a lot with a little. I'm going to run these every month, and hopefully the funds raised each month will be enough for a goat. That's up to you guys and dolls out there.

So, hit the following widget with as much or as little as you'd like to contribute, and let's get these families in need some goats!

NOTE Make sure that you input a dollar amount then hit UPDATE TOTALS before you log into PayPal for it to work. If you have any problems/questions with this, feel free to e-mail me at

MAGr "Buttafly"

MAGr "Buttafly" (prod. by Hudson Mohawke): Here's a fresh cut from Camden, NJ's MAGr. I didn't know cats fucked with Hud Mo on the beats, outside of my homey Elucid. They roll right over this fuzzy heatrock. I know they have some ish planned for 2009, including a lil' ting for this very spot, so get familiar... shouts to the homey Dom.

He's right - there has been a lack of posts on this event, the forthcoming release of Notorious. I'm reserving my words on it; Ciph and Rosenberg commented recently - this shit is too new. Soulbrotha "Twitter Song"

Soulbrotha "Twitter Song" (mirror): The boy SB just threw this track my way. I'm not sure if a lot of cats are dedicating tracks to their trials/tribulations on twitter, which is wild b/c I did just recently listen to Take It Personal #1, where they spoke on the powers and outright FUN you can have on twitter. It's that new ish, and yes, I'm on it too.

And to put icing on the cake, the bwoy definitely ripped one of Aeon's beats. Say word.

J.A.M.E.S. However, the track only explains the early part of his day, and the beginning of his mission, as I may choose to elaborate further on his adventures in the near future". The strings in the intro will definitely get you hype...

Joulz Il "Imagine That (Pain Remix)"

Joulz Il "Imagine That (Pain Remix)" (mirror): Word to Entity for hittimg me with her latest remix to Joulz Il's "Imagine That", which was featured on disc 2 of The Lighthouse Project. Here's her words on how this came about: "More recently we were checking out T-Pain's 'Thr33 Rings' Deluxe Edition album and noticed he had used the same sample I did on the original song for his song "Phantom". I bet Joulz Il could re-create T-Pain's rendition of the track and flip it and after that the rest is history."

Imagine that... hold tight, though. I have some more Joulz Il fire that is set to be dropped.

Tigersapien "Right Angles": Tigersapien is an Electro/Rock outfit out of Philly... and Brooklyn. They are down with the Shotgun Audio camp, and just finished an EP for Shotgun that's being released for free. Here are the first cuts from this EP; they have an ill vibe to them, kind of remind me of Chromeo, but with a bit more of the FUNK that I like to hear. Word is that Designer Drugs (aka the guys behind Shotgun Audio) remixed one of Tigersapien's tracks, so be on the lookout for that.

Also, that artwork is my shit right now.
