Real T@lk ft. R.O.E. "Wordsworth"
Real T@lk ft. R.O.E. "Wordsworth" (prod. by Authentik Made): Here's a laidback banger from Peoria, IL's Real T@lk, taken from The Mo' Better Mixtape (props on that ill cover art - personal favorite flick). Another reason to help you niggas realize how fresh some of these unheard/unsigned cats really are. Hell, The Source recently featured Real T@lk, so its not really a game, nahmean?Bonus Beats Real T@lk "Sleepwalking" (prod. by Chris Mathien)

David Guetta ft. Estelle "One Love (Shy FX Remix)"
David Guetta ft. Estelle "One Love (Shy FX Remix)": No, I'm honestly not sure who David Guetta is. And I had no idea this remix existed until Mista Jam tweeted about it. It's got a nice vibe to it - not my favorite flavor of DnB when I'm in that zone, but Shy FX is a seasoned vet who knows how to fatten up the mainstream-lean that Drum & Bass has lying around - and yes, he slows it down and flips it into some ill dubstep-y vibes towards the end. Really anthemic... although if you're looking for a deeper dubstep vibe, hit the Breakage remix below.Bonus Beats David Guetta ft. Estelle "One Love (Breakage Remix)"

Elucid The Sub Bass Diet
Lemme find out Christmas came early. One of my favorite MCs, Elucid, has unleashed his 2009 opus, The Sub Bass Diet. I've been WAITING to grace RTD with this project, and I'm glad that the greenlight was turned on early. We've been beating your skull in with Elucid's sublow excursions all year long, and I'm proud to champion his material. For so many of you who diss on MCs who don't stick to whatever cookie-cutter fantasies you imagine Hip-Hop to be, listen to this and then try and prove to me that Elucid doesn't have it. It's not just being in the pocket... it's saying something. "Whirlwind Thru Cities" is a perfect example of the hybrid Hip-Hop/EDM vibe, where those snappy snares are detuned and placed atop some wicked rumblings. Dubstep selections like "Laser Days" and "My Mayor Is A Billionaire (BBC)" follow Gutta's penchant for breaking down society's ills with his signature real nigga talk. The one gem I've been waiting to hit you heathens with is "Bad Dreamz", where he concocts a truly wicked dream (nightmare?) scenario over some murky dubstep excellence. Tracks like this, where homey's bars float effortlessly, make you wonder how these Grime and dubstep MCs sleep at night with some of their more juvenile artistry.
And don't get me started on "Which Way Is Up?"... this is one of the sleepers, trust!
I could go on and on about this, but you should really just download the full project and then thank Elucid for his work. He's a beacon of hope in this scene, and no matter how many times I say it, he's part of the growing ethos behind what I do at rock the dub. Catch up.

BPA & RTD Present J. Slikk The Drum Major III
I dropped the cover on you on Monday, and now Backpacker's Anonymous and rockthedub.com present J. Slikk's The Drum Major III. This compilation/mixtape features a selection of beats that have been leaked on this blog at some point, thrown aside some snippets and new jawns that are new to even me. Slikk is one of the more talented producers who is criminally slept on for no good reason by too many of you out there. Dude hails from Chitown, and is a cat who's sound is drenched the syrupy-smooth vibes of the mid-90s Hip-Hop era. I've had the privilege to get to know him and get his fresh music on a regular basis, and he has a lot of songs done that just need to be heard. We're ringing the alarm.
Featured artists include Rashid Hadee, Junclassic, The Primeridian, Cy Yung, Indy Sparks, R.O.E., Rukus, Soulbrotha and others, as well as some sick remixes of tracks by Erykah Badu, Common, Katy Perry and Kanye West. Slikk does it all - dude is major with the drums, he's the drum major.
You even get to hear my voice on this... for good or ill. And no, I'm not rappin' lol.

FuseBox Radio (Week Of November 3rd, 2009)

Direct mp3 Download (right click and "save as")
Direct mp3 Download Backup (right click and "save as"; via Blip.TV)
This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of November 3, 2009 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary.
Our commentary this week focused on commentary about the meaning & situation behind the firing of Philadelphia radio show host Charlamagne Tha God after his Beanie Sigel vs. Jay-Z interview segment in conjunction with how mainstream media in general does everything possible to keep folks working with them & beyond to stay ultra neutral on most everything along with some other things here and there.

We had an interview this week with Bronx, NY's talented independent Hip-Hop MC D. Dave (http://www.myspace.com/ddashdave).
We touched base on everything from how the music scene is in his home area of New York City, the "New" New York movement, his inspiriations, the importance of working with like minded others for success in business & other scenarios, upcoming music projects and other cool things.
There is a new episode of Black Agenda Report this week but no Direct EFX segment (did not receive before show recording).
Feel free to check out some recent episodes of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast here on BlackRadioIsBack.com - all of the shows are clean/radio friendly.

Kromestar "Badman": Here's a free tune from Kromestar's next project, The Other Syde, which is out this month. It's a two disc affair (one mixed, one unmixed), and is said to feature some of Kromestar's varying styles. Oddly enough, this sounds like what I'd expect form dude.

ROE ft. Chris Mathien "The Gloves (No Quit)"
ROE ft. Chris Mathien "The Gloves (No Quit)" (prod. by Chris Mathien): My nigga ROE cracks me up. He works heard, and loves making his music. For a minute, he's been on some "yo khal, we need to put out this free shit", which I'm all about. I love his honesty and musicality, so yeah, RTD is game. Plus, he's BPA, so that's a no-brainer. Thing is, dude will be like... busy. Or gone. Then one day I'll get an e-mail like "yo here's the first leak for the EP". LOL. It's all gravy; A Pen. A Mic. A Dream. will drop on rockthedub.com in the near future, I'm sure of it, and when you hear it, it'll blow you away. ROE reps the Windy City (sup, Andrew?), and this cut features (and is produced by) fellow Chitown-bredren Chris Mathien. Love those pianos. Enjoy!

Deal - The Villain "This Ain't (Love)"
Deal - The Villain "This Ain't (Love)": I've (cryptically) mentioned Deal's EPic release that's due out on RTD Records VERY soon. We've now decided to give you a few leaks off of this. "This Ain't (Love)" is one of the strongest tracks on the release, as well as being one of the strongest cuts I've heard from DTV. The loop reminds me of some dusty Wu-Tang shit, with Deal wasting no time lettin' you niggas know what this ain't! EPic should raise some awareness not only for what Deal has cooking in the kitchen, but for what's on deck for the entire Elite Aseembly collective.Release date for EPic coming soon.

M.anifest "Get Away (Shafiq Husayn re-fix)"
M.anifest "Get Away (Shafiq Husayn re-fix)": M.anifest has flipped a cut from Shafiq Husayn's Shafiq En' A-Free-Ka into some really interesting ish. Nice uptempo vibe, with a bouncy synth melody. You'll hear this on the FREE album The Birds & The Bees, which drops on November 20th, which features 14 original tracks and 2 re-interpretations: one of a D'Angelo track and "Get Away". In return... "all we ask is for folks to support a cause! To consider making a gift to Young Entrepreneurs Africa (YE,A), a nonprofit empowering underprivileged youth in the motherland to turn proverbial lemons into lemonade. I'll be telling folks more about the record and the nonprofit on twitter". Do the right thing!

Curly Castro "Keychains"
Curly Castro "Keychains": Here's the final leak from DJ Ambush and Curly Castro's Phatman And Likklebwoy mixtape, which will be dropping on RTD next week. Curly throws some story-driven darts about some cats that you probably know in your hood. While he borrows the hook from The Clipse, this goes deeper than slick-talkin' Crack Rap; this is November chill, with a healthy dose of real life struggle. All of this and more on Phatman And Likklebwoy - you have been warned.

DJ Matt Cali & Russell Fong Sample Junkies
If you're like me, Hip-Hop is more than just the Black CNN; its a place where you got introduced to sounds you may never have picked up (Jazz, Soul, Funk, Kraftwerk) outside of a Hip-Hop context. The art of sampling is something that introduced me to many worlds, and has also helped me realize how essential having a diverse catalog of music in my collection has been. To help celebrate this, DJ Matt Cali and Russell Fong have cooked up Sample Junkies, a compilation of those timeless samples that you should know instantly. I slept on the last tape Matt sent me, and I shout out Dom for giving me the heads up on this new project. Highly recommended.DOWNLOAD DJ Matt Cali & Russell Fong Sample Junkies

St. Joe Louis "Good Morning"
St. Joe Louis "Good Morning" (prod. by Elete): Another project I got the opportunity to listen to was St. Joe Louis' 30,000ft High & Rising. These niggas call it a mixtape, but the project flows like an album. We'll call it a superdemo. Anyways, this is the first single from that release, and is a thrashing wake-up anthem. It's got some thumping drums, guitars and piano, and they make sure to big up NJ and TX."Stay out the lane that I'm in..."

Junclassic "Werld (Husky Remix)"
Junclassic "Werld (Husky Remix)": Here's a remix of a cut taken from Jun's Late Nites & Early Mournings EP, sounding like some peacoat blaxploitation shit. Jun's had a good year this year... I was just saying to him, his name has been bubblin' on the Internets something crazy. Hopefully he can keep that forward motion going into 2010.

Elucid The Sub Bass Diet Cover
Overnight, the homey Elucid hit me with the artwork for The Sub Bass Diet (Adventures in Lower Level Frequencies and High Vibrations), which is finally dropping on November 10th. Original production coming from Metabeats, Brook D'Leau (of J*Davey), Von Pea (of Tanya Morgan) & DN3, with some found sounds from producers like Loefah, Kode9, Joker and more. Artwork from treezynyc.I've had the privilege of sitting with this project for a bit, and its an ill journey through varying sounds. Elucid himself is already a channeler of leftfield vibes, just by the way he can flip and boucne his vox. Add to that the fact that dude is stringing together some sick lyrics, making you SEE what the fuck he's going through (wait for "Bad Dreamz"), you'll see how paltry most MCs who rock over dubstep and other sounds really are. I'm fully expecting more producers and DJs picking up on his talent(s) after partaking in The Sub Bass Diet. Consider yourselves... WARNED!

Cymarshall Law ft. E. Ness & Block McCloud "RudeBoy Gutter Shit" (prod by. Mr. Joeker): That's a crazy random ill-ass line-up for this track that lives up to its title. You looking for something to keep you on point for the cooler months? Turn this one up, loud!previous Cymarshall Law "No Fear '09"

Tone Liv "Splish Splash"
Tone Liv "Splish Splash" (prod. by The Custodian Of Records): Shouts to Drew for passing this cut from his forthcoming The Custodian and Friends project; something about Tone's heat over that infectious melody has me open. NJ keeps beating the fuck out of the rest of the US (no diss to my non-NJ heads); just a lot of talent in the Garden State. If you fuck with this, check out Custodian's She Hate Me LP, which is a 25 track instrumental opus made to promote his Burton Music LP.
