Main Course & Holy Soulja "Truth Is"
Main Course & Holy Soulja "Truth Is": The homey Main Course hit me with this earlier today, promising that he has enough heat on deck to make this winter dumb warm. I believe it, too... he's the latest addition to The KhemLab, and laced a few beats effortlessly. Watch out for him, watch out for The 'Lab. Just be prepared.

Dirty Money "Angels (Diplo Remix)"
Dirty Money "Angels (Diplo Remix)": Lemme find out Diplo has funked the fuck out of Dirty Money's lost loved ones ode. I've been surprisingly into the Dirty Money shit so far, and I can imagine this club banger does damage in... um... the club. Enjoy.MP3 via YK2 Daily.

Curly Castro "I Love My 30s"
Curly Castro "I Love My 30s": With the recent release of Phatman and Likkle Bwoy, did you think Curly Cas was going to slow down a likkle? Nah... and with this hilariously-realistic send-up of Asher Roth's "I Love College", he breaks down the responsibilities that many of us feel towards those all-night ragers - mainly, "dude, I have work in the morning". Just another example of fine lyricism that blends both humor and reality.

Elucid "By The Block (Child of the Sun)"
Elucid "By The Block (Child of the Sun)": You probably saw this drop on Lyle Horowitz's Auteur, but the homey Lyle included the demo version of "By The Block"; earlier today, Gutta hit me with the mastered final version, and it'd be a waste to keep this moody rumbler to myself, right? This is a different Elucid... I'm not gonna use the word abstract, but its definitely different than what he's given you over 2009. Dude's multifaceted, and his music is made to challenge your usual conventions. It's Hip-Hop for forward-thinkers - get a late pass.

Leeroy Thornhill "80s Child"
Leeroy Thornhill "80s Child": Here's some 80s-flavored Club rompage from former The Prodigy member Leeroy Thornhill, who has a new imprint (Electric Tastebuds) that's set to drop a compilation, Tasty Episode 1, this month. The bass in this sounds like a Transformer got hijacked and rewired to play 7 minutes in Funk Heaven. Enjoy.

PyInfamous "Soul Sessions 2"
PyInfamous "Soul Sessions 2": A couple days back, I introduced you to the Super Smash Bros.; last night, I got a trio of tracks from their older brother, PyInfamous. All three tracks showed skill, but "Soul Sessions 2" had me open for the beat. Dude sounds like he's definitely experienced (and performing at venues all over can do that to you), and while I'm not sure if the boast of PyInf being "one of the most complete independent artists in hip-hop music", I'd definitely like to keep my eye out for his next full project.Blast or trash?

EMS x RTD: ThrowBack Thursday 014
M-Dot & Revalation "Boom Boom": words from the homey Rev - "EMSxRTD - Week 14 is now upon us!! So last week we took a break to allow people to be thankful and enjoy their Turkey but this week we are back with a dope cut from myself & M-Dot. Classic joint right here and some of you might recognize the beat from Royce Da 5'9's "Boom" so we entitled this one "Boom Boom" to pay homage to the Premier produced classic but also because it's a double explosion this one right here from me & M-Dot so enjoy!!! See you next week!"

Premium The Delegate "The Wing"
Premium The Delegate "The Wing" (prod. by Future aka Craft): After posting a stream of Elite Assembly's "No. 7" earlier, Deal passed me this fresh track from Premium, who coasts over a beat from After Image's Future, speaking a sort of oral thank you to those in his corner. Love hearing niggas flip their skills in this way - letting people in when they really don't have to.I think this might be from a solo project Preme has going, but don't hold me to that.

FuseBox Radio (Week of December 1st, 2009)

Direct mp3 Download (right click and "save as")
Direct mp3 Download Backup (right click and "save as"; via Blip.TV)
This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of December 1, 2009 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary.
Our commentary this week focused on what seems to be the week of knocking down the "Magic Negro" mystique (yet not wanting to really deal with competent and human tendencies in Black People) in mainstream media with the coverage of golfer Tiger Woods' infidelity and U.S. President Barack Obama's Speech on escalating the war front in Afghanistan. We also touched on World AIDS Day along with some other things here and there.

We had another great interview this week with author, political strategist, econonomist, journalist and business consultant Cedric Muhammad (http://www.CedricMuhammad.com).

We talked about his latest book series, The Entrepreneurial Secret: Starting A Business Without A Bank Loan, Collateral or Revenue (http://www.theESecret.com).
Questions asked included everything from who is the audience he's reaching out for with this work, how the book's information ties into the current national and international economy today, the Hip-Hop Generation and business, some of the stereotypes about how to start a successful business, having a good team behind you for success, some of his other past & current ventures (including writing the weekly Hip-HopPreneur article series for AllHipHop.com) and other things!
There are new episodes of Black Agenda Report and Direct EFX segments this week.
Feel free to check out some recent episodes of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast here on BlackRadioIsBack.com - all of the shows are clean/radio friendly.

Lyle Horowitz Auteur
Following Who Are We, my third instrumental offering I released this past September, I was starting to feel like I was at a dead-end as far as putting projects together was concerned. I felt like I needed to challenge myself, so I reached out to a number of talented artists and began putting together a compilation album called Auteur, the french word for "author" and a theory in film criticism which holds that a director's films reflect the director's personal creative vision. In spite of - and sometimes even because of - the films in question being made as part of an industrial process, the author's creative voice is distinctive enough to shine through all kinds of studio interference. As a filmmaker, this is my goal. As a musician, I hope to do the same.Pick this up via lylehorowitz.bandcamp.com; peep the tracklist...

Hollywood Floss The Xperiment Vol. 1
When Floss hit me up to peep this idea, I didn't know what to expect... check out what he did: over the Thanksgiving holiday, homey recorded a bunch of music, then gave it to Hailmegatron.net and The HipHop Effect, asking them to not only put the tracks in whatever order they see fit, but to give them their own track titles! What came out were two ill views on fresh material. Check out Megatron's view, as well as iDopeBoy's view. And be on the lookout for Vol. 2, coming in 2010.

Drake "Forever (Steve Aoki Remix)"
Drake ft. Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & Eminem "Forever (Steve Aoki Remix)": OK so let me get this straight - we're gonna take one of the most talked about posse cuts of the year, and make a Club anthem out of it. What do we do... let's speed up the vocals to an oddly-awful pitch! Let's then chop the 16s from 'Ye and Weezy in half. Sounds good so far. Let's THEN sloooow down the beat (and his vocals) when Eminem's verse comes up, obviously to contrast how FAST he rhymed in the original! Clever!Truth be told, the only thing that sounds good on the beat is the "want this shit forever man ever man ever man" loop over it. Is there a DnB remix coming soon?

Santa Hulk
Here's a "Santa" variant cover for Hulk #18 from Ed McGuiness, who is quickly becoming my favorite artist - he did a lot with the first year of Deadpool (v. 2) in '97, and rocks some ill variants.Via Newsarama.

Super Smash Bros. "Let Go"
Super Smash Bros. "Let Go" (prod. by DJ DviousMindZ): Some interesting freestyle flows over some awesome Jungle-style beats from DviousMindZ. The Super Smash Bros. rep Mississippi, and are twins Ahmad and Saddi. If you're digging this (and the bonus), be on the lookout for their Baggage Claim mixtape, which is slated for 1Q 2010.Blast or trash?

Revalation "'Net' Worth"
Revalation "'Net' Worth": Rev don't fuck around, kicks a rap about some shit I imagine a lot of MCs go through in today's Internets scene... "This song is a representation of the New Era in Hip-Hop where the Internet has made it possible for indie artists, like myself, to compete for noteriety in an overly saturated "commericial market." The internet evens the game out just enough for this new generation of up and coming MC's to have a voice. With that said, I give you "Net" Worth, a play on words of course but also a reflection of my personal thoughts of the game and the people who don't support me, yet want something from me at the end of the day. So here's to them motherfuckers!!". The Revalation Will Be Televised, December 31st!

Freeland Cope™ Remixed Selections
Compilations like this crack me up. I was never a fan of Freeland's Cope™ album (too Dance Music Rock for me), but his label did the smart shit: they flipped 24 remixes of the album's tracks and decided to release them. Dubstep mavens like Emalkay, TRG, Joker and High Rankin join Nosaj Thing, PANTyRAiD, AC Slater and TC (among others) to cut his tunes up. Here are three of my favs, and three different styles:- Freeland "Under Control (TC Mix)"
- Freeland "Do You (Joker Mix)"
- Freeland "Only A Fool (Can Die) (AC Slater Dub)"
