RIP Steve "Static" Garrett. I saw this the other day over at Idolator (via All Hip-Hop), and now it looks like the Scratch blog over at XXL posted a piece on dude's recent passing to a brain aneurysm. I mean, he was part of the group Playa (remember "Cheers 2 U" and "Don't Stop The Music"?), but this nigga wrote Ginuwine's "Pony", as well as Aaliyah hits like "Are You That Somebody?" and "Rock The Boat" (among others), and is featured on the first single from Lil' Wayne's The Carter III, "Lollipop". Dude even had his own album in the works - hopefully it will come out in some form.Rest in power.
