RIP Bernie Mac
smokeYYY hit me early with this post, alerting me to the sudden passing of Bernie Mac. I didn't want to believe it; I knew he was in the hospital since the 1st of August with pneumonia, but recent reports (as of last night) said he would be leaving the hospital soon. The Chicago Sun-Times (and the Post Chronicle) are both reporting that he passed early this morning, though. I am holding out hope for some reason, mainly waiting for the national media to pick up on this.EDIT TMZ is reporting on this as well. So is BET.
EDIT I am crushed about this. Bernie Mac was one of the first comics who I really got a kick out of. Those early days of Def Jam, with his classic performance, really got me open to honest comedy, especially in the scope of Black comedians truly speaking in our voice and not giving a fuck. Just that brutal honesty. Check out some of his best bits:

Morgan Freeman Getting A Divorce

Yesterday, I speculated that Morgan Freeman might have been tricking out, getting some road head, and that could possibly have been the reason for his car crash on Sunday. I flip through some sites, and today he's confirmed that he's getting a divorce after 24 years of marriage:Days after he was involved in a serious car accident, a friend of “Dark Knight” star Morgan Freeman confirmed to Access Hollywood that the actor is getting a divorce.
Freeman and his wife of 24-years, costumer Myrna Colley-Lee, “are involved in a divorce action,” the actor’s Mississippi-based attorney and business partner Bill Luckett told Access Hollywood. “And for legal and practical purposes, [Freeman and Colley-Lee] have been separated since December of 2007.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Freeman was involved in an accident over the weekend, which saw the car he was driving flip. The actor and his female passenger, identified as Demaris Meyer, were driving on Mississippi Highway 32 in a rural area of Tallahatchie County at 11:30 PM on Sunday evening, when Freeman’s car went off the right side of the road and flipped over.
Freeman and Meyer, who has been described as the actor’s friend, were on the way to Freeman’s home when the accident occurred.

Morgan Freeman Surgery Update
Just checking the 'Net, saw that Morgan Freeman has had surgery today, following the accident he was in on Sunday. People reports:"Morgan is doing well after his surgery last night to reconnect nerves and repair damage in his left arm and hand," his spokesperson, Donna Lee, said in a statement Tuesday.
"The surgery last night lasted four and a half hours. He's visiting with family this morning. As of this morning he's up and walking around and looking forward to his release in a few days."
Mac Edwards, a consultant for Freeman's Ground Zero Blues Club, spoke with the actor's business partner in that venture on Tuesday.
The partner, who is visiting with Freeman in the hosital, reported, "Morgan is up and walking around. He's really sore, but he's doing better. He's hoping to be out of the hospital by Thursday."
What's going on with the passenger? Yesterday, we couldn't get any info on the passenger - who she was, her condition, anything. Why? I understand, there's a veil of anonymity some might want to have, but this is 2008, we already know everything except the color of the gown Freeman is wearing, but not a word on the passenger!?
Was Morgan tricking late night, possibly getting some road head, making him crash the whip? Someone hiding something? I hate being like this, but with the amount of coverage this story is getting, I'm surprised we don't know more...
