Joe Stu "On My Way"

Joe Stu "On My Way" (prod. by D.R.U.G.S.): Let's start the weekend... now. Love when niggas combine some reggae/dancehall into some fat bottom tracks. My niggas over at Dot Got It put me onto this, and I'm glad they did. This is some shit that drops when you're just starting to feel that liquor/weed buzz you're working on. That shit that makes you throw your glass against the wall and start vibing to. Proper waist-winding shit. Lovin' this one. Be on the lookout for an album from Joe and D.R.U.G.S., nahmean?

Lyle Horowitz Auteur: Director's Cut

You recently heard the extended version of "Chain Reaction", as well as saw the video for "By The Block". Now, Lyle Horowitz brings you the special Auteur: Director's Cut, a revamped version of the 2009 release. In this, you get five remastered tracks from the original, five remix/amended versions of Auteur cuts, as well as the video for "By The Block", iPod-ready to rock. I know 4/20 was a few days away, but this shit requires an open mind, a potent spliff, and time to digest, forrealsies. This is a dope release to get you ready for Lyle's Smiles Of A Summer Night, which features Fresh Daily, PreZZure, Charles Hamilton, P. Hall and many more artists. Firestarter.

M-Dot "The Difference"

M-Dot "The Difference" (prod. by Soulslicers): I’d love to be like “coming off the smash interview we did with M-Dot earlier this week”, but I imagine this track was going to leak regardless. You really should peep the Q&A, though, we went in. ANYWAYS, the Soulslicers recently dropped a free EP entitled Before The Album, which featured this track, the second single from the Soulslicers’ Boost Da Soul LP, which drops in May 2011. These Swiss beatsmiths cooked up some crack for M-Dot to blaze through. True dope. The free EP features Quite Nyce as well. Just download the whole fucking thing, then watch out for the video, which was shot in fucking Geneva! Say word!

MCMF "Hello"

MCMF "Hello" (prod. by Kajmir Royale): I won't front - the hook on this threw me off. Didn't know if I had some Drake on or something, bonce MCMF went into the first verse, I knew I had the right track. This is one of those anthems you blast by yourself, speeding to your destination on the highway, reflecting on the nonsense in life and truly pointing the middle finger to the fucking haters out there. This cut is taken from MCMF's I Can Rap mixtape. Word is he's got an album with Spa on deck, although no word on a release for that is on the table - as of yet. Keep it locked, haters!

STS ft. Joell Ortiz & Dave Guy "The People (Remix)"

STS ft. Joell Ortiz & Dave Guy "The People (Remix)" (prod. by Sean C & LV): RTD recently celebrated five years of doing the damn thing, and one guy I need to shout is STS, as he’ll hold the distinction of dropping the first freestyle that included “rockthedub” in it. Over a MF Doom beat. WAAAAY before a lot of you guys picked up on his bars. Since then, he’s gone on to do a LOT of things, including linking with the Money Making Jam Boys and being featured on the latest album from The Roots, and recently the “G.O.L.D. Edition” of his Demand More series dropped, collecting all of the original recordings off the entire series, and this remix is the icing on that cake. Nice way to close out that chapter, nahmean? I know you’ve got some green left – roll up your remaining buds into one big spliff and cool out to this horn-driven slapper. Ortiz and STS go off, of course. Blam. #diehardfansdemandmore

Nicki Minaj "Girls Fall Like Dominoes (Distance Remix)"

Nicki Minaj "Girls Fall Like Dominoes (Distance Remix)": I was actually talking to the homegirl Tye about dubstep's possible acceptance in the US, and how much easier it should be for dubstep to blend with mainstream US charts, tempo wise - moreso than Drum & Bass or other forms of EDM. And this brilliant (dare I say THUGSTEP-y) remix of Minaj's latest falls into my lap. This is taken from the UK dig-single, and is massive. Distance throws a dirty bass underneath Nicki's bars. Her voice fits well in these kinds of situations. DJ Nappy was right - 5 years ago!

DJ Cable - Rinse FM Guest Mix (4/19/2011)

Had no idea Cable rocked a guest mix on Sian Anderson's Rinse FM show. Dropped a sick mix, too, featuring some Triangulum forthcomings, as well as a grip of beats from across the board.

Desco La Cruda Verita

We missed last week's EMS x RTD ThrowBack Thursday, but this week Rev has hooked up a sick mixtape from Desco, who you might have seen mentioned in M-Dot's interview earlier this week: "So I missed last week due to being overwhelmed with all the great projects we have coming for ya'll but to make up for it I have a special treat for Week 23. A Full Mixtape (yet again) from EMS new comer, Desco. You've heard him on tracks with the EMS crew before but now Desco brings you his first solo mixtape "La Cruda Verita" or "The Hard Truth" a culmination if older cuts and new gems premiering on RockTheDub.com and ft. Krumb Snatcha, M-Dot, EMS w/production by Skammadix, Kore, DJ Don Chito, Will C, Groove and more!"

Prodigy stopped by the Hot 97 Morning Show to chop it up about a few points in his book, his current status with G-Unit and on what Jay had to say about him during an episode of Juan Epstein. Rosenberg was nice enough to include both segments, as well as the full unedited raw file. Boom.

Curren$y & Alchemist Covert Coup EP

I was never that into Curren$y. I heard both Pilot Talk albums and thought some of it was cool ("Audio Dope II", etc.), but listening to Curren$y was kind of like smoking with Curren$y - I'd get too high in the beginning, then midway through the session, I was ready for a nap. When I heard he and Alchemist had an EP dropping today, I was definitely intrigued. Then I heard "Scottie Pippen" and was in awe. Amazing track, although I have a feeling that if Spitta was spitting on anything other than ALC beats, I wouldn't be so into it. Anyways, this joint EP (no pun intended) dropped today via Diamond Supply. Shouts to Nah Right for the alternate links.

DJ Quik x T.I.T.S.

At 12PM PST today, the DJ Quik x T.I.T.S. collaborative t-shirt is being released. If you like classic West Coast Hip-Hop and beautiful, scantily clad ladies (and streetwear), this should be right up your alley. Head on over to Quik's "Quik E-Mart" (clever) and cop this tee for $30. Then go cop The Book Of David. Or some sour. Or all three - it's 4/20!

The Two. Fifteens - Inhale/Exhale (4/20 Mix)

As you should know, The Two. Fifteens like to lace RTD with some sick mixes - primarily two tough mixes from the last couple of Halloweens. For this special 4/20 mix, they went in with a dub-wise mentality, not only dropping some of their own gems, but also throwing in tracks from Roy Ayers, DJ Quik, King Midas Sound, Black Chow and plenty more sick artists. You might wanna load up the finest in that special bong of yours take a proper pull to this.

BassBoost Vol. 2: Sol.ID

The first BassBoost mix dropped back in March, and now the homey Sol.ID hooks up a special mix, covering loads of Bass-filled genres, from Hip-Hop to Drum & Bass. Expertly, I might add. If you like your mixes properly mixed, chief whatever you're planning on smoking and get this 4/20 thing poppin' EARLY.

DJ Premier - RIP Keith "Guru" Elam 1 Year Anniversary Tribute Mix (4/19/2011)

Hopefully you guys heard Mister Cee's Throwback At Noon from yesterday, where he did an all-Gangstar mix in tribute to Guru's passing. He announced that DJ Premier was going to be touching down at Hot 97 for Flex's show last night, and earlier today, djpremierblog.com posted the audio from Preemo's tribute. Just like it was last year, this is a celebration. Rest in peace, Guru!

Mister Cee's Guru Tribute Mix (4/19/2011)

We lost Keith "Guru" Elam last April, and Mister Cee took to the wheels for today's Throwback At Noon to flip a special tribute to the god. 60 minutes of pure Hip-Hop, from one of the finest lyricist, ever. Patricia Elam also spoke with XXL about Guru's life, as well as some movements going on since his passing (there's a movie coming, etc.), while Guru's nephew Justin Ruff spoke with HipHopDX. Word is DJ Premier will be mixing LIVE on Funkmaster Flex's show at 10PM until Midnight, going IN!

The Garden Variety Show: Central Jers Edition! (4/30/2011)

I always feel bad when Custodian hits me up about these Garden Variety shows that he throws up in North Jersey. They normally happen on Thursday nights, at times where I can't make it for whatever reason, so when I got the Facebook invite from Jermaine about the Garden Variety show going down on the 30th of April at the 219 Gallery The Galamo at Allen Street (near the Ice Cream Shop) in Trenton, I had to make a note on my BlackBerry calender. Central Jersey Hip-Hop will be in the HOUSE, with cats like Spitatainment, Black Collar Biz, B-Boy Akademy, Venemous3000, Sol Zalez and Jermaine on the bill, with sounds provided by the one and only Divine Drummah... AND an open mic cypher? Not to mention that cats like Kasso will be in the building - all for a $5 donation? I'm in there like swimwear. I'll be snapping some flicks and taking some video - expect some reports from this, no doubt. If you're in the area next Saturday, PLEASE stop through and say whattup. #NJHipHopIzDaMovement!

King I Divine ft. blctxt "A Smart Black Boy"

King I Divine ft. blctxt "A Smart Black Boy": Last week, King I Divine dropped his Crown Jewelz 3 instrumental LP, which featured a few free jawns, featuring D.Julien, ScienZe and this one with blctxt. Haven’t heard from blc in a bit, so to know that he hasn’t lost a step in this silence is great. King has those beats, to – I had a feeling he’d rock that Jay-Z line, given the title, but wasn’t expecting this at all! Has a Preemo feel with the hook, and blc knows how to manipulate the beat masterfully. Go grab that album!

Geeter "Do It Now"

Geeter "Do It Now" (prod. by Ritchcraft): Ritchcraft’s been noticeably silent, but mainly b/c after dropping 30 video/beat jammies in 30 days leading up to SXSW, it makes sense. He’s sorting a 30 In 30 EP, and this is a release from that project. Never heard of Geeter before, but the story is while working with Kayo, Ritch brought in Geeter to sort a 16, but the combination of Geeter’s dynamic voice and content lead to him going in dolo. This is that Soul music – touches you right in the core and keeps you hooked. Shit, Ritch and Geet might be doing an EP together! Love how things work out...

5 Grand "Karma"

5 Grand "Karma" (prod. by JoeLogic): Here’s a crazy deep track from 5 Grand and JoeLogic from Joe’s We Run Philly charity project, which features cats like Nico The Beast, Hezekiah, Schoolly D, Tone Trump, Chilly Moody and plenty more Philly spitters, entirely produced by JoeLogic. I’m all about kids being helped through music, so if you are in Philly, or want to support some kids by helping them roll down the right path, get in on this one.

Marc Antoni ft. Laws & Theo Martins "Attempts"

Marc Antoni ft. Laws & Theo Martins "Attempts" (prod. by The TrackSlayerz): Antoni used to be known as Fly-C, and has a new EP dropping entitled Overnight, which will be hosted by DJ Booth, and features (aside from the two nigras on this track) Smoke DZA and Jon Hope, with beats from DJ Pain 1 as well. Love the pianos on this one – you can feel where it allows the pens of these MCs to truly open up and let you know what the fuck is on their mind – whether you’re gonna like it or loathe it. It’s all about constant progression.

[RTD Interview]: M-Dot

Over the last two years, you've probably seen a mixtape, video or random throwback from the EMS Productions crew. We've helped present releases, and just bigged up this Boston-area collective of MCs, DJs, producers and just talented mufuckas. One of the heads of this outfit is M-Dot, who has been representing on his own for a while, be it dropping sick mixtapes or the recent release of Run MPC - dude does it for Hip-Hop, and recently came back from a European tour. I got a chance to speak with him about his beginnings, the beginnings of the EMS crew, and his success. We also get a couple of exclusive pieces of info about what this cat has for the future - and trust, dude's plate is hella full! Two plates! Let's go!

Thelonious Martin 16-Bit

I believe this dropped on Foursquare Day / Record Store Day, but with me being out damn near all day, I didn’t get a chance to sit with this one. Martin’s been hard at work with a number of projects, and while I can’t get him to sort anything out for me, I do like to see the young producer shine. Instrumental release #6 from this Jersey Fresh producer is presented by TastemakersNJ and Dope Couture, and is the first of what looks like a trio of projects – he has a FakeShoreDrive-presented EP with Mic Terror on the horizon, as well as an EP with Vic Mensa. Oh, and a Shine Travis x Dope Couture x 2DBz tape on the way. But fuck all that for a second, dig in deep to these beats. Martin’s got the knack for a dope groove and a tight snare, and showcases that throughout this tape, be it stretched vocal wails on “Let Me Know” to the low-key funk in “Calidaze”, dude can create a mood. Young Jersey stays active.

JSWISS ft. Azon Blaze "In My Car"

JSWISS ft. Azon Blaze "In My Car": JSWISS is keeping his new shit Monday series going on. These two link up to pen a track about an activity that artists – and weed smokers – love to partake in. Taking quality music and bangin’ it in the whip! Literally, first verse is all about windows down, bass knockin’, and great vibes emitting from your vehicle to the open air. One of the best ways to listen to music, really. Hell, bump THIS shit in your whip. Not now but right now!

Reject ft. Ed O.G. "Don't Wanna Hear It"

Reject ft. Ed O.G. "Don't Wanna Hear It" (prod. by Teddy Roxpin): Here’s some Boston-bred Hip-Hop from Reject. Feels like the shit I rocked to a decade-plus ago, just slick, boom bap tracks with cats who let their personality shine perfectly. I feel like I know Reject while listening to this one. He owns this beat and freaks it proper. Ed O’s feature is just icing atop the cake Roxpin made. This single drops on May 10th, with the album (Far From Industry) due out Q4 2011.
