Droppin' Science

Fans of classic Hip-Hop samples know that the Blue Note jazz label is ripe with source material for some of your favorite jams. Blue Note knows this, and in continuing with their homage to the Hip-Hop (and other) acts that have sampled them, they are dropping a pretty dope compilation on the 12th of February entitled Droppin' Science, which features a host of cuts from the late '60s through the mid-'70s that have been sampled and used by artists like Dr. Dre, the Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, Kool G Rap, Madonna, J Dilla, Main Source, Jill Scott and Brian Austin Green(?!?), among others. That's a 10-track CD, 13-track digital and vinyl release. This is seen by the VP of Blue Note as the "cream of the crop" of tracks that have been used from the Blue Note catalogue (these were selected from over 25 songs), and is a must for any crate digger, producer, or just a fan of the "golden age" of Hip-Hop. Essential music history, folks. Don't sleep.
