The Americans "One Night Stand" |
The Americans "One Night Stand": Thursdays seem to be my days to flip something a bit different to the people. Here's a crew formed by former Hysterics member Charlie Klarsfeld called The Americans. The Americans' EP is dropping on iTunes in a few weeks, but you can hear it over on their MySpace page right now. It's produced by Charlie, who brought in the Dap Kings to give some life to his work. Nice Pop/Rock tunes with an RnB feel. Highly recommended, kind of reminds me of Stereolab but not as quirky, and with more traditional instruments.
Big up to B-Roc for the heads up!

Morgan Freeman Getting A Divorce |
Jesus Christ, do questions get answered or WHAT?!!? Yesterday, I speculated that Morgan Freeman might have been tricking out, getting some road head, and that could possibly have been the reason for his car crash on Sunday. I flip through some sites, and today he's confirmed that he's getting a divorce after 24 years of marriage:
Days after he was involved in a serious car accident, a friend of “Dark Knight” star Morgan Freeman confirmed to Access Hollywood that the actor is getting a divorce.
Freeman and his wife of 24-years, costumer Myrna Colley-Lee, “are involved in a divorce action,” the actor’s Mississippi-based attorney and business partner Bill Luckett told Access Hollywood. “And for legal and practical purposes, [Freeman and Colley-Lee] have been separated since December of 2007.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Freeman was involved in an accident over the weekend, which saw the car he was driving flip. The actor and his female passenger, identified as Demaris Meyer, were driving on Mississippi Highway 32 in a rural area of Tallahatchie County at 11:30 PM on Sunday evening, when Freeman’s car went off the right side of the road and flipped over.
Freeman and Meyer, who has been described as the actor’s friend, were on the way to Freeman’s home when the accident occurred.
Just friends, eh? Check out Demaris Meyer, who we will just refer to as Miss Daisy. Oh, and that '97 Nissan Maxima? Yup, it was her whip. Damn, Morgan - I guess her head game was official!

Morgan Freeman Surgery Update |
Just checking the 'Net, saw that Morgan Freeman has had surgery today, following the accident he was in on Sunday. People reports:
"Morgan is doing well after his surgery last night to reconnect nerves and repair damage in his left arm and hand," his spokesperson, Donna Lee, said in a statement Tuesday.
"The surgery last night lasted four and a half hours. He's visiting with family this morning. As of this morning he's up and walking around and looking forward to his release in a few days."
Mac Edwards, a consultant for Freeman's Ground Zero Blues Club, spoke with the actor's business partner in that venture on Tuesday.
The partner, who is visiting with Freeman in the hosital, reported, "Morgan is up and walking around. He's really sore, but he's doing better. He's hoping to be out of the hospital by Thursday."
What's going on with the passenger? Yesterday, we couldn't get any info on the passenger - who she was, her condition, anything. Why? I understand, there's a veil of anonymity some might want to have, but this is 2008, we already know everything except the color of the gown Freeman is wearing, but not a word on the passenger!?
Was Morgan tricking late night, possibly getting some road head, making him crash the whip? Someone hiding something? I hate being like this, but with the amount of coverage this story is getting, I'm surprised we don't know more...
Bonus Beats: My mom and her man were telling me about this movie All About Us, about two brothers trying to find Morgan Freeman in his town to pitch some movie shit to him. Sounded good...

More Morgan Freeman Accident Details |
Via Reuters:
Freeman, 71, was airlifted late on Sunday night to a Memphis, Tennessee, hospital, about 100 miles from the accident scene, which is near a home he keeps in Charleston, Mississippi.
"The vehicle went off the edge of the road and flipped several times," Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Ben Williams said. No other car was involved in the accident.
From the direction Freeman was traveling, he appeared to be headed toward his home, Williams said.
Williams said it was "possible" that Freeman, who co-stars in the current blockbuster Batman movie the "Dark Knight," had fallen asleep at the wheel, but he added that authorities had ruled out alcohol as a factor in the wreck.
Freeman was conscious and talking to arriving officers afterward, Williams said, adding that no citation had been issued in the accident.
Via LA Times:
According to a source very close to the "Dark Knight" star, Morgan Freeman is "resting comfortably in the hospital and is on medication for the pain."
"He broke his shoulder and arm, but he's doing OK. He's already laughing and joking around with the nurses."
Thank God he's OK.

Morgan Freeman In Serious Car Accident |
Word on the newswire is that Morgan Freeman, one of the dopest actors ever, and one of the lone elderstatesmen in Black Hollywood, has been involved in a serious car accident:
Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman was involved in a serious car accident Sunday night in north Mississippi.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson Ben Williams said Freeman and a female passenger were traveling eastbound on Mississippi Highway 32 in Tallahatchie County when his vehicle went off the edge of the road. Freeman overcorrected, flipping his 1997 Nissan Maxima several times before coming to a rest.
Emergency crews extracted Freeman and his passenger from their vehicle using the jaws of life. According to Williams, they were both airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where Freeman was listed in serious condition Monday morning.
The condition of Freeman's passenger has not been released.
OK first off, I wonder how bad off the passenger is if their condition hasn't been released. Also, how bad is Freeman? And what was he doing driving a '97 Nissan Maxima? What's really good with that?

FOTM: THUGSTEP #15 |
Young Jeezy ft. Bonecrusher vs. Tes La Rok "Take It To The Floor (DJ Nappy Extended THUGSTEP Refix)": Simple, yet effective. Fresh THUGSTEP that fans of the initial .rar's already heard. Jeezy and Bonecrusher rep the dirty, tough talkin' over an moody dubstep romp from the one like Tes La Rok. Oddly enough, I dropped another track featuring Jeezy last month, but with The Recession on the horizon, I can't help it. PUNK NIGGA C'MON!!!
