Botchmania 61

Botchmania 59

Never saw/posted this one:

Rosenberg Pocketumentary: A DJ Premier Tribute

Desimal "Earthling"

Desimal "Earthling": Back in 2006, the Drum & Bass scene lost a gifted producer, Desimal, to the demons that consumed him. This was one track that was earmarked for a label that never came to fruition, and is my all-time favorite tune of his. It sounds like the battle between two armies of cyborgs, the FINAL battle, with loads of lasers and batallions mashing each other out. Really heavy, funky, beautiful music here. Dude is sorely missed to this day. RIP.

Calyx & Teebee "Follow The Leader VIP"

Calyx & Teebee "Follow The Leader VIP": The original version of this dropped on Calyx's No Turning Back album, and featured some snippets of Rakim's classic verse. For the dubplate circuit, however, this sneaky VIP emerged, unearthing Rakim's lyrical fury over that rollin' bass. Undeniable.

Noisia & Mayhem ft. KRS-One "Exodus"

Noisia & Mayhem ft. KRS-One "Exodus": This dropped on Noisia's Vision imprint last summer, and was pretty heavy... and a testament to how deep KRS came with it in terms of spreading this Hip-Hop thing around.

Bonus Beats Goldie & KRS-One "One One (The Burial)" (this white label version is slightly different than "Digital", from Goldie's Saturnz Return album. If you know "Digital", this should be a treat for you!)

Chase & Status "Hoodrat VIP"

Chase & Status "Hoodrat VIP": I had only heard this in mixes from that era (circa 2005), and I imagine this version couldn't be released b/c of that GZA/Wu-Tang sample (although the Dub Mix is just as ill). I loved that harder, half-time vibe from C&S. One of the nicest DnB duos out there, and a pair of cats who are probably going to take the scene to the next level.

Tommy Boy "Back Up"

Tommy Boy "Back Up": Not much going on today, and I'm in the mood to share some DnB that's either come out or not gonna come out. This track came out in 2006 under one of TC's nicknames. It's his raucous amen-infused style, but with a West Coast twang to it. The Eazy E sample ("back up bitch, unless you want nut in ya eye!") gets me everytime.

Rusko - Essential Mix (12/13/2008)

The mighty Rusko stepped up with a choice Essential Mix. He drops his "Pro Nails" remix, a VIP of Chase & Status' "Eastern Jam" and a host of dubplates and new tunes from cats like Benga, Skream, The Others, Caspa, Benny Page and many more!

Jam. Packed. Shouts to This Way Up.

Junclassic "Lilith"

Junclassic "Lilith" (prod. by Rainchild): Here's an ill cut from Jun and France's Rainchild. No the track isn't messed up; the beat is made in 5s instead of 4s. Jun goes in on a more poetic feel, speaking about some real life feelings and emotions I imagine many have felt when real life takes something from you...

Cradled in the navel of volcanoes/engulfed by the same flames taming fallen Angels/the agony of death howlin in my surroundings/comfort from a ghost offers something close to counseling...

Soulstice & SBe ft. GLC "Chi Worldwide"

Soulstice & SBe ft. GLC "Chi Worldwide": SoulStice & SBe link up with G.O.O.D. Music's GLC for this twinkling piano-driven monster, giving it up for Chitown. This will be dropping on the Beyond Borders project, which is set to be released in March of 2009.

Shouts to Lee @ Foundation Media for this one.

Featuring Wise Intelligent & Doodlebug; Truth's disc is one I didn't get around to reviewing, and I apologize for that:

Shouts to Matt.

Get Money

So today, at work, I won the 50/50 pot. Nice lil' addition to my wallet at a time where the fam really needs the loot. The funny thing is this: I'm not sure if it's because people think I'm a nice guy, or if I looking fucking BROKE, but people keep congratulating me, saying shit like "I'm happy for you". Does this happen often? Do I look that poor/homely? My Snoopy t-shirt from Wal-mart is pressed and stain free!

I don't know. All I can say is: we're getting hot wings SOMEtime this weekend!

PS I need to take some new drunken shots this holiday season. I believe the above pic is two years old...

PPS True sign of a #1 Dad is definitely the one dollar bills. Fall back, fake pops!

[video] Emilio Rojas "Bailout Money"

Via OnSMASH, who posted an MP3. Props to Enigmatik for the heads up.

Friday, December 12th 2008 playlist

I hate the new area I'm sitting in. If we speak on the reg, you already know that. Three months (plus?) of this might do me in... I'm still here, though!

This week's BoomBoxxMixtape feature is a track thats dropping on a forthcoming mix I'm posting either next week or at the end of the month. We'll see how it goes.

Beanie Sigel "The Truth"

Enjoy your weekend, fam. I'm the ooh-child.

BGDB Presents Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II

Enigmatik has compiled a host of found Raekwon tracks into a sick OB4CL II package; Part 1 is here, with Part 2 to come in the near future...

[video] Rosenberg x DJ Premier (12/11/08)

If you missed last night's Noisemakers session featuring DJ Premier, don't fret, DJ Ness has uploaded some video from the event:

On Biggie & Puff:

On Nas:

On best rappers/producers, new rappers, etc:

[video] Behind The Scenes: NERD "Sooner Or Later"

I actually really like this song; surprised its their next single:

I guess it's fitting, with bailouts failing and the like.

[video] Gym Class Heroes "Guilty As Charged" LIVE

Here's their performance from Last Call With Carson Daly:

RIP Betty Page

I just heard that Betty Page passed away at 85; had no idea she had been hospitalized! She's one of the original dirty vixens in my book. For a while, the type of chick I was into looked exactly like her. I never did see the movie that was done on her life, nor did I see any of the movies she was in during her time as a pin-up. In any case, a truly beautiful female has lost her life. Pay some homage.

DJ Cable's Weekly Mix #46

DJ Cable is on some Funky House/Afro flavor right here. Perfect mix to set your party mode RIGHT!

01. Fish Go Deep - The Cure & The Cause
02. Geeneus & Zinc - Emotion
03. Copyright Feat. Imaani - Deeper
04. Donae'o - African Warrior
05. DJ Footloose - Just Leave
06. K.I.G. - Head, Shoulders, Knees And Toes

Get your dancing feet one. I believe there's only a few of these left...

Juan Epstein x EPMD

I just got done listening to this and had to devote a lil' post to it. MAN! When I really started getting into Hip-Hop as a shorty in the late 80s, EPMD was my SHIT! Still are, even if I'm not head over heels about their new album (We Mean Business), which just dropped this past Tuesday. In any case, Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg were in the pocket on this latest edition of Juan Epstein (even if the topics and shit are all over the place), and I really got to rediscover my appreciation for Erick and Parish. Hopefully their new venture keeps them Making Dollars.

[video] The Best of Grind Time Volume 1 DVD Promo

Mr. Vegas "Oh Gosh (Gutter Anthem)"

Mr. Vegas ft. Aaron La Crate and Samir "Oh Gosh (Gutter Anthem)":Yes, those Delicious Gutter cats are at it again, this time retwerking a fresh Mr. Vegas selection into a fun Club banger. Sad thing is, with that beat, all I can think about is this video of a girl dancing at high school... badly. I wish I could find it. Oh well, shouts to Michelle @ audibletreats.

[video] D. Dot Speaks On "Hypnotize"

previous [video] D. Dot x Rock Me TV

Junclassic "Livin' In This Dream"

Junclassic "Livin' In This Dream" (prod. by Licks): This new track is from 2015: The Mixtape from Licks, a UK cat who flipped beats for a host of MCs. You know how Jun does his shit - he massacres any beat he touches. Nice, laid-back quirky vibe to this one.

The Game "Show Is Over"

The Game "Show Is Over" (prod. by Cookin' Soul): Damn, CS is all over, nahmean? This one is shorter than I'd like it to be, but they flip a real familiar sample into some beautiful shit. It's almost too hot to be dropping in December, you feel me? Drop this, rewind, repeat.

Yung C "Shifting Gears"

Yung C "Shifting Gears" (prod. by Denox): The homey Denox goes IN for the clubs on this one. I don't pop bottles, but I would grab a bokkle of Mo and do my two step on the floor to this one.

L.E.G.A.C.Y. x Hustle Mill

Hustle Mill recently posted an interview with L.E.G.A.C.Y., who's NC Chainsaw Massacre mixtape with DJ Flash should be out VERY soon. Leg's talking again, and what he says should definitely be marinated upon.

I'll be whipping up my own Q&A with Leg in the near future as well.

[video] South Central "Higher State Of Consciousness"

Shouts to Justin for shooting over this remix South Central did of Josh Wink's classic "Higher State Of Consciousness":

Bonus Beats South Central "Higher State Of Consciousness"

[video] Jean Grae & 9th Wonder LIVE (12/10/2008)

18. Da Hood In Me
19. Cannons On The Blocks

E-HUSTL Entertainment gets the daps for putting this one out. Shouts to Michelle at Audible Treats for the heads up.

rock the dub x twitter

If you're like me, twitter has slowly become that social networking site that you've not been able to get away from. I was kind of skeptical like "what's the point?", and ended up neglecting my Facebook page for it. Anyways, I got rock the dub posts fed into twitter. All you have to do is follow, and get your dose of RTD every half hour or so. Enjoy.

[video] Powder Blue Trailer

I'm not quite sure what this movie is about. Ray Liotta, Patrick Swayze and Forest Whitaker are in it, as is Jessica Biel, who plays a stripper. This shit looks very depressing:

I imagine most fanboys will be checking for Biel's ass in this one, though. I just think I'd need some happy juice to keep me awake throughout it. Via PopWatch.

E. Ness Nobitchassness Mixtape

Here's a new mixtape from E. Ness, who is still being billed a Bad Boy recording artist, even though there's no telling when (if?) an album is set to drop in the future. Kind of sad, homey has skills on the mic. This tape is hosted by Ace McClowd. Grab it for free.

[video] Charges Dropped Against "Soulja Girl" Dropped

Do you guys remember "Soulja Girl"? Looks like she's back in the news:

  1. Did she lose her weave?
  2. Do you remember that she asked if "anyone wants to see Young Jeezy kill George Bush"? Do you think that's why he made "My President"?

Nina Sky Vlog #13: Faded Memories Live

[video] Che Grand LIVE at Highline Ballroom (12/9/2008)

The 2nd half of this piece features some of Colin Munroe's performance. This video is from Digiwaxx, who attended the event, reviewed it and posted up more video.

DJ Absurd "Dutty Lo"

DJ Absurd "Dutty Lo" (mirror): The homey DJ Absurd, who you've heard DJ Nappy flip on the THUGSTEP tip, hit me with a free cut to celebrate the release of Boot&Leg 002 (grab that monster, early - stock disappeared out of Juno in one week). This one is a fast-paced bassline frenzy, throwing some Chuck D and DMX samples into this dancefloor banger. Shouts to him for this one!

So Anyway What Was I Saying?

Keyshia Cole ft. Nas "Oh-Oh, Yeah-Yeah"

Keyshia Cole ft. Nas "Oh-Oh, Yeah-Yeah": Christ, I had no idea Keyshia Cole was a Libra; her bornday is 4 days after mine! This is some good, rainy day love music. Keyshia's voice is so dope, and Nas puts in an ill verse to end this one off right. Go grab that album next week...

[video] Duo Live "Shootin'"

I hit you with the track last month, and now here's the video; features include Billionz, Joell Ortiz, Red Cafe, Uncle Murder & M.O.P.:

[video] Black Jesus: Break Bread

[video] Jurassic 5 "Ducky Boy"

[video] Olivia Munn: Bond Girl

[video] Gloria Velez Playboy Shoot

The G-Spot Boyz "The Stanky Legg"

The G-Spot Boyz "The Stanky Legg": The remedial life-boat continues with this latest edition into the "I'm gonna make money doing ringtone rap" cipher. I got the video for this from the nigga Enigmatik last week, and laughed at remedial-ass niggas doing dumb dances all over. My homey over in LA said his girl was doing the stanky leg, and the people he was chillin' with didn't believe it was real... until they say the vid. Now, why I'm getting these fucked-up blasts about these remedial-ass rappers is beyond me. No wonder these cats are unsigned... hell, I'm not surprised the producer info on this blast was left blank. "Do the booty doo"? Come on, dog. Pause. Pause your entire life. Or, to quote the nigga Cassidy: "put the chrome to ya own dome and homi ya'self".

The Paxtons "Japanese Denim"

The Paxtons "Japanese Denim" (prod. by Judah): This cut from The Paxtons is taken from the Hypebeast x Hypetrak x Mick Boogie x Judah mixtape, Hype Club. Christ, that's mad X's. In any case, I fuck with this beat, and the Paxtons know how to slip inside that pocket. Straight heat.

I think Uncle Murda and Kay Slay are in this video too. Damn she is fine:

Ghostface Killah "Run (Remix)"

Ghostface Killah ft. Jadakiss, Lil' Wayne, Raekwon & Freeway "Run (Remix)": Jesus. Christ. This is definitely one of my favorite Ghost tracks, ever. Someone needs to get me Ghostdeini The Great for Christmas. Seriously.

Thoughts on the track: Why can I NOT imagine Raekwon getting that far on a footchase? I am kind of disappointed that there aren't new Ghost and Jada rhymes, but their bars were lethal anyways... as a matter of fact, I believe I already heard Weezy on this, and I like how his verse starts out, but I'm not really feelin' him as the endpiece. Philly Free-za coasts over this one effortlessly, though. High speed chase rap. Damn.

Bonus Beats Ghostface Killah "Slept On Tony" & "Be Easy (Remix)" (ft. Ice Cube)

Shouts to OnSMASH for liberating these.

Ali Vegas "It's So Hard"

Ali Vegas ft. AZ, Styles P & Danny McClane "It's So Hard" (prod. by L.E.S.): Cuts like this take me back... such a vintage NY Hip-Hop vibe to this cut. Shit likes this is what we need... maybe its the nostalgia in me. Ali Vegas does that to niggas from time to time. Reminisce to this one...

Shouts to Mike B for this one.

CHEA We Can Believe In

The homey Rafi just hit me with a post I had been waiting for: the first iNTERNETS CELEBRITIES merch is available! Right now, you can cop the t-shirt shown above, as well as a DVD entitled We Left Our Mother's Basement, which chronicles the first 6 iNTERNETS CELEBRITIES videos. Reasonable price on both (about $40 total, not including shipping), and you're getting some high quality wears and funny. Please support them on this. I know I will...

Lily Allen It's Not Me, It's You Cover+Tracklist

There's something about Lily Allen. She's not the most attractive, or the most talented, but she knows how to flip her talents into some really creative shit. Her forthcoming album, It's Not Me, It's You, drops on Feb. 10th, 2009, was recorded with producer George Kurstin (who produced "Everything's Just Wonderful", "Alfie" and "Not Big" from Alright, Still), and should be an interesting affair. Here's the tracklist:

1. Everyone's At It
2. The Fear
3. It's Not Fair
4. 22
5. I Could Say
6. Go Back To the Start
7. Never Gonna Happen
8. Fuck You
9. Who'd've Known
10. Chinese
11. Him
12. He Wasn't There

When I get more info/audio on this, I'll divulge. Shouts to Meredith @ Cornerstone.

The homey Jay O hit me with this mix (twice), and it has some freshness to it, on that Electro/Hip-Hop hybrid sound. If you don't know what THAT is, peep the tracklist and get a perfect idea...

2. T-Pain - Can't Believe It (B-Flat Edit)

Keyshia Cole ft. Lil' Wayne "I Love You"

Keyshia Cole ft. Lil' Wayne "I Love You": I told you guys last week that Keyshia was the new Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, and now she's out there reworking that classic Mary J. shit. I'm not hella fond of the way they Dirty South'd the beat, and Weezy can go (you are not Grand Puba, homey), but homegirl can blow.

Busta Rhymes ft. T.I. & Reek Da Villain "We Rollin'"

Busta Rhymes ft. T.I. & Reek Da Villain "We Rollin'": Something about when Busta and Tip link up, they come with some fresh shit... well, "Cannon" was the truth! They collide again, this time with that nigga Reek, over a headnodder. This isn't going to be played all day on MTV Jams, but this is that heavy album cut that niggas will be like "yeah, I know they pop shit is wack, but did you hear track 15?!!? FI-YER!"

Shouts to BoBO, who says they got a hot hand that ain't done yet...

8thW1 & Fresh Daily "Peace"

8thW1 & Fresh Daily ft. Silent Knight "Peace": I hit you guys with "Song of Random Thoughts" last week, and the homey 8th hit me up last night with a new, featuring fellow AOK member Fresh Daily and finalist Silent Knight. Meka says that this is produced by Illmind, which is just making this more of a beautiful Monday banger.

Lethal Bizzle "Pop Champagne (Remix)"

Lethal Bizzle "Pop Champagne (Remix)": Don't ask how I got this, just accept it for what it is: UK MC Lethal Bizzle getting his over the "Pop Champagne" instrumental. He actually out-does Ron Browz over his own track.

Word is this was to be an exclusive for a few heavy hitters, but someone this one fell loose. Grab it before it's ghost!
