Good to hear that new music out there! Been a minute since The Paxtons garnered a grip of exposure for Work, and on this new project, The Manhattan Project, these two expound on a few things... "Hip Hop was built on a foundation of double meanings. While the title of The Paxtons’ new mixtape, The Manhattan Project, is an obvious reference to their relocation to NYC and adoption of the New York state-of-mind, there is a deeper inspiration driving the mixtape.
The Manhattan Project is also the codename for a WWII project whose mission was to develop the first atomic bomb. In musical terms, The Paxtons are taking the same approach by building a mixtape that is set to annihilate the competition with lyrics and production that clearly show an unseen hunger and level of progression and creativity from the Chicago-bred MC and production team". Enjoy that.
Eli Porter & Lil' Jon "U Don't Like Me (E-Dolla Mix)": Never did I think that the world of THUGSTEP and the enigma Eli Porter would collide so amazingly. I dropped this track back in July, and have a project sorted out with the HOODLUM crew for it, but never did I even dream that the don, Eli Porter, would be touching down on this one. This is taken from his People's Champion mixtape, which is set to drop within the next month, with the People's Champion documentary dropping before Turkey Day 2010. Shouts to Walker Warren for sending this over; peep his interview with Refined Hype, speaking on the documentary.
I think I might shed a tear... I've been waiting for something like this to happen for YEARS!
Rickie Jacobs "Defense" (prod. by Nano): Air Jacobs is on the way, so its good to hear this bass-heavy space-hop. It sounds like something blasting out of that boombox in the cover. Great pairing of sounds, nahmean?
previous Rickie Jacobs ft. Rotimi "My Time"
I fucked with IDM for a minute before I got into Autechre, but once I heard Tri Repetae++, I found one of my favorite albums, ever. Their blend of dub, the best forms of "intelligent dance music" and just the overall feel of the project had me hooked. Concréte Sound System, aka Luta's new live project, has sorted out a dope Autechre tribute mix, essentially: "In the coming years the importance of the 90′s era IDM will become more and more relevant to the music of today. Then like now were a bunch of artists unaffected by trends and fashions, freed from the typical concepts of musical success to work within the realm of technology based music in means few before had ever explored. Today many of the sounds which they uncovered have become the catalyst for genres, trends and fashions. Making it my prediction that as those genres, trends and fashions consume themselves it will be the aesthetic as much as the music which proves to be the legacy of the era.
Picking out one artist to represent any era of music is fundamentally impossible to do objectively. So make no mistake that the choice of Autechre here is quite the subjective one. Perhaps the most influential artists upon my own work it was a pleasure going through their massive catalog to pull together this mix. bÆts is a collection which aims to show that the two perhaps better known for their ambient and melodic work can throw down block rocking beats with the rest of them. Of course since we’re talking Autechre nothing is quite straight forward, but be clear it makes for one helluva ride.
This mix also inaugurates my new live set Concréte Sound System (CSS). Like the mix itself you can expect the future of CSS to be breathtakingly relentless". Shouts to Elucid for hipping me to this.

The homey Praverb rises from the ashes like a phoenix and brings forth the second installment of his The Gospel Is Free series, this time trading verses with Nametag, Blame One and others over a sick assortment of beats. Kick up your feet and get the good word with this one right chea.

Magnetic Man ft. John Legend "Getting Nowhere": When I reported on the Magnetic Man album details for Dogs On Acid, the feature that struck me first was this reported John Legend shit. I love Legend's work, but was kind of skeptical regarding how he'd apply that to dubstep (or whatever he was going to do). And it's not to say that this is bad, it's just... meh. There's nothing truly special about the actual track, and John's more Soulful crooning don't work too well on this. It's almost like he's doing too much - if he had let it flow a little more natural, or just took a bit of the oomph out, I might be into it more. But probably not. Let the bonus beat be my apology.
Bonus Beats Magnetic Man "Mad"
Four years ago, there wasn't a BBC Radio 1 Experimental show - Mary Anne Hobbs dwelled on the Breezeblock. In January 2006, MAH presented the Dubstep Warz (download HERE), a series of mixes from some of the seminal names in Dubstep, introducing myself and most of the world to this exciting new sound. I was personally hooked based on the strength of this show, and many of the DJs on this show, including Mala of the Digital Mystikz crew, are still my favorites today. On this week's Experimental show, MAH brought DMZ back for a special 45 minute throwdown. So many ill tunes in here from that camp. In these last episodes of BBC Radio 1 Experimental, it's good to hear Mary Anne revisit some of the vibes that helped shape the scene, alongside her continuing the forward-thinking future funk.

Outside of DJing Drum & Bass around the world, Crissy Criss touches down on 1Xtra weekly. On this week's show, Criss dropped a special 30 minute dubstep mix, showcasing current gems and some serious dubplates, including Trolley Snatcha's "Pass Me By", which has been doing my head in over the last few weeks. If you're new to dubstep, you might want to grab this and see how the sound fits you - this is more of the dancefloor ragin' stuff. Enjoy.

Out now on iTunes is Good Biz's "Flow So Tight"; every Tuesday in September, the Good Biz Music Company has a single lined up for release... but the week before, they will be leaking the track, like...
Be on the lookout for more cuts from this series, including a release produced by the late Tony D. Keep it locked!
J.Nic$ "Last Time" (prod. by Numonics): New monthly going down in Florida, and this track is the preview to that... "As a part of The Rising music series in Miami, J Nics has teamed up with fellow Floridian, Numonics, for this new track entitled "Last Time". Over a chopped sample of Geraldo Pino's "Africans Must Unite", J Nics showcases his trademark delivery and cadence that has made him one of the most intriguing new artists to come from Florida. Paired with the signature sound of Numonics, "Last Time" is a reminder that you need to take advantage of every moment and opportunity because even if it's your first time, it may very well be your "Last Time"".
Junclassic "Still At It": First leak from Jun's mixtape with DJ Tre Unda, Mornings Was Hash Browns: "Lil while back my Brother DJ Tre Unda reached out to me to do a mixtape. When he named it Mornings Was Hash Browns I got nervous and excited. The title comes from a lyric Nas said on his StillMatic intro. Jadakiss also named a freestyle after the lyric and went IN. Being the Nas fanatic that I am, I decided it would be dope if I laced the Stillmatic Intro and even took it a step further by dropping the mixtape on Sept 14, 2010".
Once again, it's on. While the shit isn't available for YOU yet, the nigga DJ Nappy has been in the mobile lab, cooking up some shit while reconnecting with various pillars of the music community. Shouts to Dallas Penn for this one.
I thought Peter Rosenberg's Narduwar conversation from the other day was going to be the latest podcast type thing from him this week. See, for some reason I think myself and Rosenberg would be good Hip-Hop friends, but we don't speak - mainly b/c, well, who the fuck wants to talk to me? I still respect the fuck out of the shit he gets into, from the TNA Official Non Stop Podcast to Juan Epstein to his various other gigs. Well, today a new episode of Juan Ep was posted, as well as Episode 2 of the Hype Men Podcast, which features Peter. Hit the jump for the goods.
El Da Sensei & The Returners ft. Rakaa Iriscience "Knowledge Be The Key": El Da Sensei & The Returners have once again joined forces for the release of Global Takever 2: Nu World. The album campaign begins with the debut single "Knowledge Be The Key" featuring Rakaa Iriscience which becomes available for digital download on Sept. 7th along with the B-side, "2 The Death". This single serves as the perfect sneak preview for what's to come; dirty loops, scratch hooks & witty metaphors. GT2 drops on 10.12 through Coalmine Records.
Kontact & Black Knight"She Could Be" (prod. by Rafpak): New cut from Nu Revolution spitters Kon & Black Knight. You should have heard them on previous Revolt Radio releases, but Wordsmith let me know to that more material from these cats is on the way...
Che Grand with The Lessondary "Star (Pimps In Canada In 3D)": We previewed a few tracks last week, but now Che links up with Von, Don and Spec on this final leak from The Fixtape Two, which is set to drop tomorrow. I don't like that this blast didn't say what they were spitting over - I'm not smart enough to know if this is an original beat or what. I don't know, but I love it. Got some good red wine in me (word to Andrew J Martin), and this is speaking to me.
Nevermind. Watch for this tomorrow.
Good to see Black EL getting the props he deserves, and on this Durkin-produced album is so necessary right now. Glad there's only a few features (Outasight, Jelani, Jon Hope), so EL can really flex his muscle and showcase how dope of a union he and Durk are. Hit the jump.
This one's been a long time coming- don't sleep on KingPen Slim at all. Another DMV representer dropping another street/Internets album on your asses today, via DJ Booth. Shouts to Langston for the continuous updates on this niggra and his project. Hit the jump.
Mic Wilson "Follow Along [snippet]": Mic's Phase Two has a release date: October 10th. Lots of shit goes down near my birthday, and this project is one of the shits. Only this isn't shit in the stinky foul sense - this shit is DOPE! Nice 2 minute preview - love the wailing in the beat. "This joint make a smart mufucka go ignant!", indeed.
Chose "Disco Heaven Freestyle": While we await a special Chose x RTD project, peep this new freestyle from the god, flexin' over some Lady Gaga. Been a minute since I've posted someone smashin' Gaga, especially something that is so disco-fueled. But Chose is a different breed - just check it. Pop your collar to this one!
RA's been representing the DMV for a minute, so I hope you lot haven't slept on her skills. This new album, brought to you by DJ Booth and 2DBz, showcases many different sides of her chi, and is light on the features, which is great. No need to muddy up the fire with a lot of other MCs - no diss to anyone out there. Anyways, hit the jump for the tracklist and download link.
M-Dot ft. Torae, Chino XL, B.A.M. & Lyric Jones "Be Easy" (prod. by DJ Jean Maron): M-Dot & Jean Maron's Run MPC (great title) was released today - and it's a banger. He's the 2nd single, which features an MC I don't hear much from, Chino XL. Proper lyrical exercise on this one. Support that; big up EMS!
KEYEL's Twizz has a project on the way entitled Summer Stars, which is due out Wednesday. They sent over 3 tracks "for bumping purposes", but these shits are too dope to keep to meself, so you enjoy these.
Newest/latest/most awaited from the Odd Future camp is Domo Genesis' Rolling Papers. It's about exactly what you'd think it is, and is produced by Tyler, The Creator & Left Brain. You know what you should do before, during and after rockin' to this one, so do so then do so.

Skyzoo & !llmind "Speakers On Blast": I already hit you with the cover and tracklist for Sky & Ill's Live From The Tape Deck album, which is due out on October 5th; now peep the lead-single from this album. Sick, sick track. Video on the way soon...
Justin Bieber ft. Kanye West & Raekwon "Runaway Love (Remix)": Hey, sue me. I'm not mad at this... at all. Let's break it down: 'Ye already jacked RZA's chipmunk Soul samples, why not completely jack "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuttin' Ta Fuck Wit"? Why not jack a bunch of Wu lines? Why not have Raekwon come in and revisit the "Freek'n You (remix)"? Why not have Beibs do whatever he does over this? It's 2010 - in the era of mash-ups, this really isn't that insane... right?
I'll be rockin' this all week. Sue me. Shouts to Nah Right.
The Closers ft. Punchline, El Da Sensei, F.T., Phantasm & Nine "The Seventh Inning Stretch" (prod. by Thorotracks): Dot Got It kind of went in for this one, so I'll let the press release speak... "The Closers (Red Eye, Shabaam Sahdeeq,Thorotracks), Punchline (eMC), El Da Sensei (Artifacts), F.T. (Street Smartz), Phantasm (Cella Dwellas) & Nine. You read that right. All those highly respected MC's on one track. Dotgotit.com & The Closers proudly present The Seventh Inning Stretch. With it's distinct 90's feel, The Seventh Inning Stretch accomplishes what many artists have previously tried and failed at. A throwback vibe with 2010 lyrics and attitude. This track, already considered classic, takes seven heavily decorated MC's and just let's them go for a home run derby on the beat".
Following up on the awesome Mos Dub project, producer Max Tannone has hooked up a similar remix compilation with Mos' Black Star bredren, Talib Kweli, entitled Dub Kweli. You know how to properly enjoy this... so, light up ya spliff, throw this on, open the windows and let the good vibes hit you!
