Jon Connor "Around The World In A Day": Looks like this is the final leak before Connor's Vinnie Chase Season 1 mixtape drops in 24 hours. I mean we already know Michigan has talent, but it's weird to hear a spitter from Michael Moore town goes in just as nice.
Koncept "Gift In Disguise" (prod. by The Audible Doctor): Had no idea the BBAS crew was planning on dropping Kon's Playing Life on CD, but this track is the bonus to the CD version. Anything I've heard Audible Doc do in 2010 (and in general) has been ill, and Kon's got that grown man flavor in his lyrics, so you just need to get into this.
The homey D-Man co-signed JJ Rome, and after hearing a few tracks of his a bit ago, I was definitely. With D-Man throwing down the bulk of the production, and DJ Therion mixing the compilation, this is definitely something you need to fuck with. Then thank myself and the folks that went into crafting this gem.
Quest M.C.O.D.Y. "What It Look Like": This week's #MCODYMondays leak has that trunk rattlin' feel to it - pull up in something clean and candy on a hot Saturday afternoon and floss out to this one. Love MCODY's diversity - he can murder cats in a battle, then come with something like this, which is a bit more anthemic. Rock on, nigga.
Joell Ortiz "Joell Christopher": I'm saying, three of the yellowest, most Hip-Hoppingest niggas on the planet Earth, collaborating on one mixtape, and they don't have a YELLOW thrown in there somewhere? I hope there's some yellow in the artwork! Anyways, Ortiz sons niggas like he they father - if you don't believe it, just give this one an extended listen. Mixtape Of The Year might be the proper name for this, assuming the rest of the tape comes this hard. Pause. "Ha!"
QuESt "Inner Sense" (prod. by M&D): Remember when cats would bust into double-time flows all the time? I kind of miss that, mainly because the niggas who spit over DnB bastardize it. If your double-time sounds like nursery rhymes, fall back. Anyways, this is an older track from QuESt, kicking the door down and bringing you some honesty for your mixtape needs. The Reason: A Defense Mechanism, November 25th!
Remember Whitney Houston's smash debut album from 1985? The one with Greatest Love All, Saving All My Love, You Give Good Love among others. Well, I changed it up a bit....well....a lot.....actually, you won't recognize any of the originals. Bang this... - Fresh Nerd

Well, it's good to know that it's not just the HOODLUM collective rockin' proper Dubstep/Hip-Hop blends. Matt Kickdrum took acapellas from Young Jeezy and Gucci Mane and flipped them over some bigger/more popular dubstep tracks. Nice combination, seen? Shouts to Hipnotikk for sending this one through.

MiLKMEN "Set Me Free" (prod. by Trust Beatz): The MiLKs are definitely consistent, and I love the quality of all of their tracks. This is something to rock to today, where it's kind of rainy - preferably while you're sitting by the window, hoping for the rain to let up so you can enjoy the day... this is tagged with Far From Perfect? Not sure what that is or will be...
Following up on John Cena on Juan Ep, Ciph and Rosenberg had Bret Hart, one of my favorite wrestlers EVER, on the podcast. They go in on Bret's past, what's going on now, and just bring the funny. And if you've not checked out Hitman, Bret's autobiography, do so.

No, this has nothing to do with Kanye West or his vanity label. This is a mixtape from We Plug GOOD Music, featuring 20 artists from the US, UK, Africa and other spots, dropping some fly RnB, Hip-Hop and Spoken Word. This is something you wanna light your favorite incense to, maybe blaze a lil' and curl up in the candlelight. Hell, this is a mixtape even my momma would love! Hit up WPGM for more information on this, stream it below, then find where you left your inexplicable head wrap and rock to this.

Chase & Status ft. Tempa T "Hypest Hype": Jesus - I already told you guys that Tempz is the M.O.P. of the Grime scene, and this cut with C&S finds him going all hyper - this is straight 730, heavy metal riffin', club rockin' fury right here. I'm loving the beginning into the first massive drop, and kind of wish the majority of the tune was like that. I'm assuming this is on C&S' sophmore LP? We shall see...

And now we officially introduce you to the HOODLUM crew. HOODLUM consists of DJ Nappy, DJ Cable & DJ Hipnotikk, and they are poised to not only maintain the crowns as THUGSTEP kings, but push the sound to the next level, and this refix EP, reconfiguring Diplo & Lil' Jon's "U Don't Like Me" is just the perfect introduction to their sound.
Oddly enough, this has been a stance Nappy and I have taken - not so much "if you're not liking this shit, fuck you", but a really open "we'll do what we think sounds right" attitude, and I think it's worked - just chart the progression of the Rap/Dubstep hybrid sound since 2006. It's catching on to the point where Rusko has motherfucking Gucci Mane on his debut album! That's huge for this sound.
But it needs to progress - thus enter the HOODLUM.
This EP features each DJs take on this massive track gives us different moods - I liken it to the intro, the riot and the dance. From Hipnotikk's precision edits to Nappy's headbussin' beatdown to Cable's waist-windin' heat, all styles of the sound are covered. There's even a special bonus track, featuring Philly's own Chose and UK spitter RTKal going ballistic over the original Diplo instrumental. HOODLUM is about refixing sound without asking, and making you love it. And I know you will. Grab this EP, then wait for the next move from the clique... they won't have you waiting. And shouts to Justin for the cover art - good lookin'!

89 the Brainchild ft. KhanArtist & Loko Krazi "Fly Paper" (prod. by Ezrakh): Here's your 4:20 coolout track, shouts to the Brainchild for flippin' a CLASSIC track to make the soundtrack of your herbal sesh this lovely Friday. Trill MF'n Cosby is on the way!
Nucci Reyo ft. Quandee "The Change Is Right Here" (prod. by Drawzilla): I love Nucci's latest material - this one is on some feel good business. This cut is taken from the forthcoming In Due Season, and is part of that change that cats say they are dying for. What the hell are you living for?
Bi-coastal underground superproducer Belief returns with the first in a series of singles to round out 2010. Following up his widely acclaimed Aaliyah remix series, "Up And Away" is a mishmash of rock, electronica and hardcore hiphop featuring Los Angeles emcee Ali Baba on rhyme duty. "The idea was to do some progressive hip-hop, something that's never been done before." Belief has done production work for Murs, C-Rayz Walz, Kosha Dilz, Sum Majere and many more.

Gerald Walker "The World Will Spin Without You": Hasn't been a long time since I Remember When This All Meant Something, but Gerald picks up what sounds like Drake's coat, puts it on and pretty much sounds like a Drake reference track... for good or ill. Not sure what/where this will end up, but I have a feeling dude has a project on the horizon - creative cats usually do.
Rel The Chosen "Just Like I Figured": The boy @EnigmatikBGDB hit me up about this cat last night, and I'm glad he did - this Houston, TX artist is ill. Dude's performed with Bun B, Slim Thug, 8Ball & MJG and others, and was even featured on the Takers mixtape. Interesting track here, taken from his forthcoming mixtape, this one is almost like realizing the feeling in your gut was true when messing with a female. Sometimes, you just know - and while you wanna give someone the benefit of the doubt, they end up living up to your expectations. Shit happens, learn and roll on.
Soul Khan "Suck My Dick" (prod. by J57): Here's a leak from 2dopeboyz.com Presents: Soul Like Khan, Khan's free album, that's set to drop in November. This is a great example of Soul's intricate lyrics, which you should have seen in numerous dismantling of MCs on the battle circuit. That hook is an anthem in its own, trust we.
EPISODE 5: actor and comedian Martin Starr joins the Hype Men to discuss 2Pac vs. Nick Cannon + surprises at Jay-Z’s second Yankee Stadium show + hugging El-P + Willow Smith’s career + Scientology + Martin’s new rap song + Mystikal + Megan Mullally + more!

Dev79 "Live N Die 4 The Street Bass": He recently leaked his "Dougie" refix, and that might as well have been a teaser for this anthem, which will be the next single on Seclusiasis, and is backed up with remixes by B. Rich, BD1982 and others, along with Dev's "Disco Fly". Philly club scene, Bmore club scene, stand up to this one. I myself have been privy to some shit coming out of a few camps, and this fits right in with an emerging movement. Trust we.
Strictly Steele "Stepping Out" (prod. by DJ DviousMindZ): This is tough - and fits like a glove. DviousMindZ' beat is hype, and Stric flows perfectly over this. Dude's from the UK, but now calls Toronto home, amd his voice is like nothing I've heard in a bit. If you're truly wanting something different, sip on this. Watch out for his Black Lights EP, which should be coming your way soon...
MCMF "Hip-Hop Kiddin'": Here's a leak from MCMF's Make U Believe, which dropped on iTunes and Amazon yesterday. You can even get a limited edition CD from MCMFmusic.com. Tight flows, a tight beat, and a great message... Jersey keeps it moving. But don't take my words for it, check the album for yaself...
Lyle Horowitz "Nightmare At 20,000 Feet": Lyle's got a Twilight Zone-themed album, Who Are We? (Part Two) dropping on October 31st, and this is the first "single", although it might freak you fruity pants out. Get focused and enjoy this before the full feature drops...
Daddy's Money "Since Gold Dust Been Gone": DM hit me with this one like "I know it's not the usual THUGSTEP", but what he didn't realize is that I'm a sucker for Pop music refixes. I like people stripping down the cheeseball Pop instrumentals and really dragging that shit into another zone. The Flux Pavillion remix of Fresh's "Gold Dust", from the intro to the placement of the sampled vocals? It's a perfect match. I'd call it Pugstep, but I don't want to be mean to Kelly.
Curly's "West Indian Rum" dropped the other day, and I mentioned he'd be performing this in Phoenix - I had no idea he and Zilla were going to be hitting a whole West Coast tour! This podcast is something of a gem on what might be one of the last Summer days of 2010, full of tracks from Snoop and Rass Kass, Eazy E, Planet Asia and more, including two bonus jawns: "West Indian Rum" (for you sleepers) and "It's 5'OClock Somewhere" from the Broken Clocks EP.

Meyhem Lauren passed me a disk of his latest work. The 'Clarified Butters' mixtape is gonna rock some skullcaps this winter. The opening track is called 'Ray Lewis' and that shit hits as hard as the man its named after.
True story is that I was listening to the song watching the Ravens play the Jets when Ray Lewis cleaned the clock of the Jets tight end [ll] Dustin Keller. You can call it fortuitous serendipity if you want. I call Meyhem Lauren the future of rap music. - Dallas Penn:

It's been over 10 years since the three man crew consisting of Evidence, Rakaa Iriscience & DJ Babu, better known as Dilated Peoples released their acclaimed debut album, The Platform back in May of 2010. As a tribute to one of the best groups to ever do it, The9Elements.com joins forces with Coalmine Record's artist roster of Singapore Kane, Bekay & El Da Sensei to pay homage to The Alchemist produced single, "The Platform".

Von Pea ft. Che Grand & Elucid "Thanks For Your Children": I won't say that I've heard Pea's Gotta Have It, but I do know that in the grand scheme of the picture that Von painted, this track smacks you in the face like a buck fifty. Che Grizzly and Gutta come fresh off of The Fixtape 2 and the "Pandemonium" single, respectively, to add a splash of p-noid funk to the mix. This might be one of the albums of the year. Or maybe I'm just bugging. Trust, though, this track is constructed like the golden age of Hip-Hop - in your face, creative and real.
Pea's Gotta Have It drops on October 12th.

Jon Connor "The Message" (prod. by Optiks): Here's another cut from Flint, Michigan's own Jon Connor, who I'm glad that Young Sav from Best of Both Offices put me onto. This beat has that throwback steelo (love that break), and dude attacks the beat precisely. No bullshit, just jewels woven lovely throughout this track. Vinnie Chase Season One is due out soon!
BBE is dropping Pugs' new album, The Decade, on October 26th. It's a compilation of tracks he's done over the last 10 years, so the title is perfect and its guaranteed dope. If you're not up on Pugs, you need to grab this and get an idea of the fire he's been putting out for the last 10 years, seen?
The wait's over - Rickie Jacobs' Air Jacobs, which is presented by BuckMarleyXXX and Tha Good Life Reviews, is here, and it's been WELL worth the weight. I first got tuned into Rickie due to his production, but over the last year or so his skills on the mic have been the highlight, and they take center stage over beats from Artic, The Awesome Sound, MarsZ and more, with guest MCs like Wordsmith, 2 Pistols and others adding but never overshadowing Rickie's steelo. Have I ever steered you wrong? No? Then hop in your Delorean and take a trip into Rickie's zone.

Wordsmith's In-House Producer Strada debuts his first "Making the Beat" mini series that will focus on his personal beat making process for numerous projects. In this behind the scenes video watch how Strada pieces together Word's radio single, "Touch Backdown" Feat. Jnes off of his Buzzworthy Bangers Vol. 1 EPixtape Dropping November 2nd.
Featuring Doughboy & OMG:
P.SO "Some Fun": Suicide By Jellyfish recently dropped, but the Earth Tone King already has another project, More Jelly, lined up. This will be a sequel, but there's likkle info on it currently. This is a dope track - love the sample(s) utilized... has a nice bop to it.
Redman "Fly" (prod. by Illmind): Gotta rep for the Gilla House general, Redman. This is the street single from Reggie, Red's next album, and it's definitely a big-body beat. Not sure how I feel about the random auto-tuning in here, but he still knows how to throw down some sick lyrics. Gotta respect.

Out today on iQ Entertainment is the first official single from CapricornOne, aka Elucid and El Carnicero. Been a long time coming for this release from this outfit, so I'm glad you guys can grab "Pandemonium" (alongside remixes from SDUK + haDJi).

To help celebrate turning 20, Ninja Tune not only released Ninja Tune XX, but today Coldcut gave away their seminal Journeys By DJ mix, which at the time (read: the mid 90s) blew away anything you could consider a "mixtape". It did exactly what it said on the tin - it was a MAD journey of a DJ excursion, crossing genres and opening a lot of minds. This version of the mix is taken from the 2002 re-issue...

Quest M.C.O.D.Y. "Nothing" (prod. by Manchyld): I had no idea Quest was doing #MCODYmonday leaks; here's a year-old track that was recorded in Florida. Rumor is Man and Quest might be doing an EP together? Keep it locked on Quest's blog for that - and a MAJOR announcement!
