Suave The Ape "Where We At?"

Suave The Ape "Where We At?": I've got a feeling January 1st, 2011 will be chock full of a number of releases, including Suave's Dead Nation EP, which shows him continuing his progression, which is equal parts new school and mid-90's flyness. Dude just has a crazy throwback appeal that hits me everytime I hear him touch a mic. He also likes touching on heavier topics, making his poetry both boastful and hopeful. I'm not sure if he's leaking anything else between now and 1/1/11, but just backtrack and catch up until then!

The Combat Jack Show (11/19/2010)

Via PNC Radio: "#YAOWAA! Another great show in the bag. Shout out to Mr. Yaowa himself Joell Ortiz for coming through to the Combat Jack Show. Joell discusses his early beginnings and transition to Aftermath to being a free agent, how Slaughterhouse was created, his mother’s drug abuse and how it prevented him from pursuing college. Also he touched on his plans on getting physically fit for 2011 and of course he kept it Brooklyn and spit some bars. Shout out to PNC Radio’s own (and BYOBBBQ earl-Star) DJ Kraff for holdin’ it down. Video coming shortly. You know the drill…. "

DJ Cable - BBC 1Xtra Guest Mix for CJ Beatz (11/16/2010)

I listened to this at work this morning and it put me in the proper mood for a busy Friday at the fucking j-o. From DJ Cable: "I recently stopped by BBC 1Xtra for a guest mix and a quick chat on CJ Beatz' RnB Mixshow last week, which was aired on Tuesday.

I literally had about 5 to 10 minutes to prepare my set, as I had been busy all day Dj-ing at a Maida Vale session for Yasmin, but the end result was pretty dope! 30 minutes of New Jack Swing/90's R&B, some uptempo club joints, southern Hip Hop, Dubstep, Grime, and a live acapella mashup too! It was nice to be able to go in live, and not spend ages preparing a crazy multi-tracked mix!"

This is a proper "get the weekend started" mix, you smell me?

Ashy L Bowz ft. Money First "Ashy Money"

Ashy L Bowz ft. Money First "Ashy Money" (prod. by Sev Da Producer): I always see Sev big up his production on twitter, but for some reason I get amazed when I hear him touch down. Ashy reps BK and my Trenton fam Money First beast over this track, forreal. Straight counting money rap. Coke cutting rap. Grimey shit. Enjoy that.

Marvalyss "Anything"

Marvalyss "Anything" (prod. by Beat Wiz): When niggas like @ClubbaLang send you messages about niggas you need to be checkin’ for, you listen. Dude’s got a slippery-smooth sample in the background, and dedicates this to that one true love. It’s funny – you can’t deny the feeling of love to anyone, but for whatever reason, niggas feel like they are punks when they express how they feel about someone. It’s probably because they can’t figure out how to do it in a way that makes them still sound like the man they know they are. Just gotta go for it, in love, in career, in life. Do anything you can to grab it, then hold on tight.

Rickie Jacobs "Speakers Goin’ Hammer"

Rickie Jacobs "Speakers Goin’ Hammer": Jacobs figured he’d let the faucet flow, and continues to massacre beats from his Bmore studio. “Goin’ ham” is one of my favorite terms ever, and when Souljer Boy flipped “Goin’ Hammer”, I died. This beat has a dope bounce, and we all know Souljer ain’t no spitter, so we want to give it up to Rickie Jake for violating this beat. Fucked it all in the mouth and everything. Nasty.

Singapore Kane "Tom & Jerry"

Singapore Kane "Tom & Jerry": With my son discovering all kinds of good cartoons, it’s ill that the boy Kane comes with this fresh freestyle. You’ll hear more of this on The Wrath Of Kane, which will be a grip of expertly-executed freestyles that drops on Refined Hype in the near future. They say before Detox, but really, what ISN’T happening before Detox drops!??!

T-Razor & Johnny Spanish "2 The Top"

T-Razor & Johnny Spanish "2 The Top": I flipped a few tracks from this duo a bit ago, and on the eve of T-Razor dropping his The Chronic 2010 mixtape, Spanish hit me off with this last leak. Two intelligent potheads coastin’ over a beat that feels like heaven. I’ve got a thing for ill string loops, though. The Chronic 2012 drops on Thanksgiving, so you might wanna make sure you’ve got a sack of that good, eat well then cool out to this one.

Armond "Don't Stop (The Apology)"

Armond "Don't Stop (The Apology)": Armond was driving in his whip when he heard this beat and freestyled the first 8 bars. Two hours later, he had the track dunzo. He had been wanting to leak some shit from his album on Tuesday, but he a lie. LOL nah, he just didn’t do it. Now, word on the tweets is this nigga has two albums dropping. In December. On the same day. 2010 DMX, minus the crillz. Anyways, here’s some audio crillz from one of the best kept secrets out there.

R.O.E. "Light Up (Random Thoughts)"

R.O.E. "Light Up (Random Thoughts)": While I/we wait for A Backpacker Named R.O.E., ROE is eating sammiches and rhyming over "Light Up". Not something to sneeze at in any way, shape or form, nahmean? Just waiting for that complete project, so people can see what I've seen for years now.

Sene & J57 eye don't dream...but i do Sampler

Sene and J57 have been parts of some dope shit in 2010. For a while, the only shit I heard from J was Sene leaks. Strong artists in their own right, it looks like they smartened up and decided "hey, why don't we make some shit together?", and out comes eye don't dream...but i do. Well, this sampler is what we have, so far, but, so far, we have some fucking heat. Intriguing samples build beautiful beats that lay foundations for introspective lyrics and witty lines. I mean, this is good Hip-Hop, and I guess that's why the good folks at Okayplayer got on board. Who knows, I sure don't. I still wanna fight J57, but that's for another day. 40 ounce to the skull piece just for living.

Yeah. Sample this, then be on the look for that.

People's Champion (Extended Trailer)

I know, I know - we already saw a trailer for this Eli Porter-documentary. This one features some of your favorite Internets, including Jay Smooth, Jeff & Eric from It's The Real, and my mellows Rafi Kam and Dallas Penn, the original iNTERNETS CELEBRITIES, as well as DCtoBC's Modi and Andy Milonakis. I hope I'm in the sequel?

Now, I thought this was due out like next week, but the e-mail I got says "seeking distribution", so who knows. Also, where's the mixtape? Hit up PeoplesChampionDoc.com for all details.

Hype Men Podcast, Episode 14: Hannibal Buress

Every year I get super into a comedian or two. I saw a random trailer for The Awkward Comedy Show, and got put onto Hannibal Buress' work. I got My Name Is Hannibal and was blown away - while the nigga definitely sounds high, his view(s) on life and nonsense are dead-on. I'm not too up on dude, but I know he writes for 30 Rock and other shows, and was happy to hear that he is featured on the latest edition of the Hype Men podcast: "30 Rock writer and stand-up comedian Hannibal Buress joins the Hype Men to discuss J. Cole + comedy stage names + the Gathering of the Juggalos + MIMS’ second single + Crucial Conflict + Ke$ha’s performance on SNL + the differences between SNL and 30 Rock + who President Obama follows on twitter + Kat Stacks + banned Sega CD games + 50 Tyson + more!"

Soul Khan Soul Like Khan

2 and a half years in the making, Soul Like Khan has now been released on 2 Dope Boyz. It's really that simple.

The Nuthouse Camden High And Rising

I leaked a few cuts off of this a few months ago, and I’m glad the full release is as dope as I thought it’d be. Like, Dave Ghetto and Fel Sweetenberg reppin’ over nothing but De La Soul beats? That’s already a great premise for anything. The fact that they got Prince Paul and Set Free to come for some proper skits!??! Above and beyond. DJ Ambush on the executive production, showcasing that tri-state flavor is still thoro. It’s funny, it’s got fly rhymes over timeless beats… it’s like a De La album. These niggas ripped “Rock Co. Kane Flow”!!! If you’re a fan of any of the above artists, you need to rock to this and vibe out. Trust.

MARKFADER Pound4Pound: Round 7

I got this over the weekend and didn’t even think to drop this Saturday night, for the Pacquiao fight. Kind of sad, too – it made no sense trying to listen to Nelly perform before the fight, like I give a shit about his band-aids or his life. Anyways, MARKFADER is a proper beast on the boards, as evident in this 7th collection of his instrumentals. Download and spit to some shit, trust.

Hatcha & Coki LIVE At Some Night (11/05/2010)

Via QRIP: "London’s forefathers of dubstep, Hatcha and Coki, pedal out a storming back-to-back set on a not-so-timid Wednesday night session at The Den. Sin City and DMZ crew godfathers back to back. Few single DJs have had as much influence on the course of dubstep as Croydon’s Hatcha. Starting out at Big Apple Records, and mixing the first Dubstep Allstars comp, and hosting a show on Kiss FM, and starting Sin City Records, the sound of London’s bass music wouldn’t be the same without him. Coki is an equal match in that regard, shaping the rough and righteous sound of DMZ alongside longtime friend and cohort Mala. Together, Hatcha and Coki are doing their bit to tear up the sub-bass and threaten low frequencies, of course. On the mic is long-time grime MC and Rinse FM favourite, P Money, wreaking a little havoc. All this, recorded live at Some Night’s first birthday in London."

Rel The Chosen Beautiful Music

The boy @EnigmatikBGDB put me onto Rel, whom I hadn’t heard of at all. Dude is out of the H, and this shit brings the fire. From the opening bars of “Leave It Alone”, you’ll be blown away. Dude just slides atop a beat and dives in and out of the beat. Real suave kind of shit, with doses of reality and struggle thrown about. I also love the choice of beats on this project – it has an overall vibe from front to back, kind of like going through your momma’s record collection with a bottle of wine and reminiscing.

Soul Khan Soul Like Khan Cover+Tracklist

Soul Khan has a free album, Soul Like Khan, dropping tomorrow via 2 Dope Boyz. The majority of the album is produced by J57, but don't let that stop you from listening to it. Cats like Marink, Maticulous and Elaquent are also on the boards, with a slew of certified spitters on the project. Hit the jump for the tracklist bits, and keep it locked for this release tomorrow!

Jay-Z With Juan Epstein

I’m so surprised that it’s taken so long for Hov to get onto Juan Epstein, and following episodes featuring cats like Pete Rock, Quincy Jones, John Cena and others, this might be the flyest episode of Juan Epstein, ever. And as Ciph said, this is one of the most in-depth interviews I’ve heard with Jay, ever. He’s been signing Jay Electronica, visiting Howard Stern and all of that, but he went to Hot 97 and sat down for this one. And is damn funny. Big up for this, Juan Ep!

MiLKMEN "Steez"

MiLKMEN "Steez" (prod. by Robi): The MiLKs keep it hybrid with this spaceship flavor here. Shit really sounds like they rhyming ON a rocket, not inside of one. Flicking stars and being themselves. Love the lyrics on this one… it’s a lot of fun, and definitely a slice of that “different” niggas are searching for. Smooth shit.

Nato Caliph "Appreciation"

Nato Caliph "Appreciation": It’s kind of wild, having a collective like The Force. Any week you’re bound to receive some ill Hip-Hop from the middle of the map. These cats keep it pushing, and Caliph is keepin’ it poppin’ with his Knowledge Cipher release, which you can cop on iTunes or CD Baby right now. He allowed me to leak this jawn out, which is kind of a call-to-arms for those who have a singular voice that’s not heard for whatever reason. It’s not often you hear of cats expounding on their non-boozing, non-using ways. Just a nigga who’s got talents and trying to elevate his people, his sound, for the masses. He knows what he wants, and just wants that respect. Kind of a bold statement TBH, but Nato Caliph is all about keeping it right.

Jay Electronica ft. Jay-Z & The Dream "Shiny Suit Theory"

Jay Electronica ft. Jay-Z & The Dream "Shiny Suit Theory": After reading @EnigmatikBGDB’s accurate dismantling of this Diddy/Jay Electronica #ithurtswhenbreathe shit over the weekend, I’m just glad there’s some ill music that came from Jay signing to Roc Nation. Instrumental on this is a monster – the best way to my music lovin’ heart is picking a perfect snippet of music and looping it. No hard drums. No ridiculous bass. Just that proper classic vibe. I won’t even go in on who outspit whom – this is some shit I want to commit to a Maxell tape and keep rewinding. I also won’t sit here and wonder when an album is coming – just let me relish in Hov fucking the shit out of this beat right now.
